Production note: With hundreds of intricately-rendered scenes, thousands of animation frames and miles of script, Battletards is bar-none the most ambitious game project ever undertaken for the Hypercard platform. It was realized completely out of love for old-school video games, and a passion for the creative process. It has always been available as freeware.

The file you can download today features a totally interactive first level in which you can beat up bad guys, dodge fire, jump on springs and ride clouds. It also features the thrilling "Versus Mode" where you can battle a friend one-on-one in a dozen fantastical rings.

Many more levels, weapons and adventures were planned for Battletards. But, a few years ago, the project was abandoned because of waning interest in Hypercard; nobody was using Hypercard anymore, so nobody could play this game. Programs like RunRev Revolution came out, which seemed like "the new Hypercard," but transfering something as complex as Battletards to Revolution proved too painstaking.
