Interview Pogrom / Arghoslent.

1. Heils Pogrom, how are you? Just to update us, what happened with Arghoslent since our last interview?
We entered the studio in 2002 to record our second full length LP/CD. Months later, Moribund Cult obtained the license from Drakkar Productions for a domestic release.

2. Arghoslent released a new full lenght, called "Incorrigible Bigotry", so, what can we expect of this newer material?
Another opus of totalitarian death metal genocide is what you can expect. The album is virtually riddled with memorable riffs and undisputed compositions. One cannot deny the honesty of our work. The intolerance contained therein is authentic. Conceptually we condone senseless violence against the messengers of Christ, unjustified homophobia, and the decollation of liberalist thought. ARGHOSLENT exists to offend and bastardize your belief system and pacifism..

3. What do you think about the final result? And the work of Drakkar Prods?
There are no complaints from our camp. Cyril has proved his dedication to this band and its ideals. Unlike the swarthy passengers aboard a ship anchored at the Ivory Coast, ARGHOSLENT has the liberty and freedom to conduct its business in any way it desires.

4. How are the divulgation and reception of "Incorrigible Bigotry"?
It is my impression that it is moving a bit better than our debut effort. Moribund Cult is distributing our release exclusively in North America, whilst Drakkar Productions is taking care of Europe; along with other cells working towards our cause such as Propaganda in Ukraine (cassette version) and Death to Mankind in Spain (vinyl version). As far as the ridiculous excuse for journalism that constitutes the underground zines scene, we are being hammered even more so than before. We are content, however, with the negativity and optimism associated with Incorrigible Bigotry.

5. How do you describe "Incorrigible Bigotry" in comparison with all the Arghoslent releases? What are the differences between of them?
There is a central lyrical and conceptual theme on this album that was perhaps not so evident in Galloping Through the Battle Ruins. The sound on this album has never been achieved in previous recordings. As I mentioned before, the tight drumming and superb double bass artillery enhanced our hymns to a newer level.

6. With a new drummer and Marauder returning... How the line up change influenced in Arghoslent and in the new album? How was the relation with the new members in studio?
Our newest drummer played in another death metal band that started and played their first gig with us back in 1990. In recent years, ALIENCHRISTs drumming surpassed even the harshest of critics. He was a welcome addition to our music which already had been recorded in rehearsals with our other drummer before entering the studio. His input, ideas, speed, and prowess gave the music a facelift. THE MARAUDER (HOLOCAUSTO) was a member of ARGHOSLENT from The Imperial Clans to Arsenal of Glory eras and was a great honor for him to part of the commando once again. All the members have recorded full length albums before so working with them on this was not problematic.

7. Could you tell us more about the studio you chose for this new CD, how are the things in this studio? How happened the recording sessions?
We chose a studio headed by a person that was familiar with metal albums. It was recommended to us by other musicians. The musical experience we have gathered in the past decade facilitated the recording process. We have reached a very good musical understanding between the members. The recording engineer was surprised by our few punch-ins and no double takes. We sat down, recorded, mixed, and were gone.

8. What lyrical themes are followed in the songs on "Incorrigible Bigotry"? Is there a common thread running between all of them?
Overall subjects range from social Darwinism to biblical annihilation. Songs cover unpopular topics such as the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, eugenics, heredity, and colonization. Although our lyrics range in topics, they all possess a negative connotation or lead to a tragic conclusion. Death Metal is negative!!!

9. Arghoslent lyrics are stricly connected with warfare/genocide, how can you describe the Arghoslent view of the Apokalipse?
We envision the unholy race world war. This glimmer of hope inspires us to compose.

10. Still talking about war, are you anti- or pro- to attack Iraq? Is that war just an economical and religious interest?
All wars have economical or religious agendas. I rather not go into that particular topic which has very little to do with us or the underground. All I will say is that war is preferable to peace in order to cleanse the present from its unforgivable miscegenation. The wars we dont support are brothers war. Flags and nations are meaningless. We value cultures rather than nationalities.

11. Do you agree that New World Order is the last act to global domination?
Global domination will not occur until the last of the haters is buried. Our cultures must resist and never cease to hate.

12. What's your opinion about human rights?
I believe human rights must be earned, not granted at birth.

13. Which are your thoughts about the 'Incorribible Bigotry' LP version done by Death to Mankind. Why was included an exclusive bonus track?
A very good job was done by that label. The bonus track is always used to make the vinyl version a bit different from the CD. The cover artwork also differed from the CD and cassette versions.

14. Returning to the full lenght, what is the concept in the "Incorrigible Bigotry" CD/LP cover artworks? How much of a connection do you feel it has to your lyrics? Do you expect any problems with censorship?
The LP is a painting of a slave port in Western Africa. Merchants trading goods for human cargo is depicted beautifully on the canvas. It is my understanding that some abolitionist purchased the painting and donated it to a museum because he found it offensive. The CD version is a painting of a decaying Roman civilization. It is very meaningful in the way it represents mans cyclical, self-destructive nature.

15. Recently Arghoslent released a split 7" EP with Stargazer, what are the biggest strenghts of this split 7"? Are you satisfied with this release?
We believe our strength is the primitive sound and underground feel of it. Our dedication to the scene is impeccable. This band was given birth by death metal and will also die by it.

16. Which is Arghoslent actual position in the metal community? Do you feel part of a specific scene?
What position? Being ostracized for being nave in our earlier years by thinking the underground was an arena for extreme ideologies? Our own alienation from a scene that prays for our disappearance? Our banner of hate stands alone.

17. What book are you reading now? Which books impress you recently?
At the moment Im reading Equianos Travels, Hoolifan: 30 Years of Hurt by Martin King, and Neither Right or Left: Fascist Ideology in France by Zeev Sternhell. Im still impressed by Hugh Thomas The Slave Trade which is very thorough and well documented.

18. Which are the plans for the Arghoslent future?
Expect 2 split 7eps done in the same shit sounding fashion. ARGHOSLENT/MORBID UPHEAVAL on WARHAMMER RECORDS, and the second ARGHOSLENT/MUDOVEN on DOMINHate Records.

19. Thanks for interview, Pogrom... Your final message...
HELLPIKE in Germany is releasing the vinyl version of Arsenal of Glory in 300 copies. HELLFLAME in Italy is releasing the vinyl version of Galloping Through the Battle Ruins in 666 copies.
