depressions
DEPRESSION, a pyschological disruption which is identified through feelings of Uselessness, Sorrow, Helplessness,  Hopelessness, and even Guilt. Unlike normal sorrow through the loss of a loved person, depressions last for a long time and hold a deep sadness without  any recognisable reason. There are many "accompanying" syntoms with depressions, depending on the character of the person.

Depressions affect men and women of all ages and of all social classes, although women have a tendency to be affected more often. (encyclopedia encarta '97)
