Children Nutrition Awareness Program
( Sunday, 14 November 1999 �    January 2000)

Program Details:

Healthy Food  Distribution:

In improving the children nutrient status, supplementary nutrients are required. In this event, free foods such as green beans, powder milk, baby milk, soya bean milk, and eggs were freely distributed to the beneficiaries.

Weight and Height Measurement

This activity is conducted to acquire and classify the children condition. Therefore, body and medical condition examination are conducted by medical experts (doctors).

Health Briefing for Mothers

This activity is performed as a preventive effort and an attempt to care for the mothers, in order to support their family health.

Briefing for Children Nutrient Status Improvement

From the initial examination, the children nutrient status is classified as follows :

Good nutrient status

Insufficient nutrient status

Bad nutrient status

Briefing is given to mothers with intention to gain understanding about their children problems.

Demonstration of Alternative Healthy Food Production

In this opportunity, a demonstration of food production from nutritious food material will be conducted. This demonstration is targeted towards mothers so that everyday children can eat nutritious and rich-in-variation food, with relatively low prices.

Insufficient and Bad Nutrition Recovery

The recovery is intended as a follow up of insufficient and bad nutrient status classification, with priority to bad nutrient recovery.

Healthy Babies Competition

This activity, which is conducted at the third month, is intended as a stimulus so that the mothers really do care about their children growth and as an effort to monitor the children growth in the local area.

Time and Venue

Time:

ACTION FOR CHILDREN NUTRIENT CARE is conducted for three consecutive months, run once every week. Therefore, this action is performed for 12 (twelve) times consecutively, as follows :

  1. First action: 14 November 1999

      2. Second action: 21 November 1999

   3. Third action: 28 November 1999

  4. Fourth action: 5 December 1999

  5. Fifth action: 12 December 1999

  6. Sixth action: 19 December 1999

        7. Seventh action : 26 December 1999

8. Eighth action: 2 January 2000

9. Ninth action: 9 January 2000

10.Tenth action: 16 January 2000

    11.Eleventh action: 23 January 2000

   12.Twelfth action: 30 January 2000

Should any hindrance prevent the action to be conducted at the specified date, it can be conducted at other dates.

HUMANITY ACTIONS

Care Action for Ambon Victims

Medication, food and cloth shipping

It has been conducted thrice (more or less 6 big trucks). The medication, food and clothes shipping for Ambon tragedy victim refugees.

Toys and books shipping

Being aware of the importance of toys and books for the Muslim children as victims to the Ambon tragedy, which was caused by the damaged education infrastructures as a result of the tragedy.

Teacher training for nature school

Gema Khadijah has run training for several Muslimahs from Ambon to be able to build and run a nature schools for the Ambonese victim children.

Homepage creation for Ambon

Being aware of the importance of information publication about what actually happened in Ambon to general public, the homepage creation on the internet is one of the efforts to provide more proportional news about Ambon.

Sending humanity volunteers for the Ambonese refugees

Gema Khadijah has sent humanity volunteers to help the Ambonese refugees.

Documentation of Ambonese Victims

Newspaper clipping and photographs of Ambonese victims is one of the important activities continuously conducted by Gema Khadijah.

Munasaharah Ambon in mosques around JABOTABEK (Jakarta Bogor Tangerang Bekasi) area

Visiting mosques and spreading news to all Muslimin about what happened in Ambon are effective ways to make people realise what actually happened in Ambon.

Sending fund in cash to the person in charge for Ambonese refugees

Many children who lost their parents and many wives lost their husbands, therefore Gema Khadijah sent fund in cash to the leader of refugees (who can be trusted and is amanah) to be given to the victims as their temporary life support help.

MIMF (Muslimah International Meeting Forum) 3-4 April 1999

MIMF (Muslimah International Meeting Forum) aimed to improve work performance and muslimah collaboration in Indonesia. We received a lot of input from muslimah  from other countries. Alhamdulillah we have beenable to strengthen the ukhuwah Islamiyah of muslimah organisations whichhave already been active in Indonesia but not yet been able to counterbalance the existing secular feminist strength, and alhamdulillah the muslimah confidence returned and they support what we are doing in Indonesia and internationally.
