Message to a Stutterer by Joseph Sheehan, Phd
Self Therapy for the Stutterer by Malcolm Fraser in html. The only book that I had on stuttering for many years. It currently seems to be out of print but cheap second hand copies seem readily available through sites like Amazon.
Because I Stutter by Wendell Johnson in html. Out of print book from 1930 by an academic speech pathologist who later worked with Korzybski, the founder of General Semantics. Posits a neurolgical cause for stuttering linked to a lack of dominance in one of the cerebral hemispheres. He also describes how stuttering occurs in all scenarios rather than defined ones; stuttering is a constant but variable factor. He also observes that through his practice of substituting words he has acquired a larger vocabulary than he would have obtained otherwise!
Easy Stuttering: Avoidance - Reduction Therapy Very useful summary of the Sheehan metholdogy edited by his wife and collaborator, Vivian, with very much a practical emphasis.
Stuttering Home Page. The most extensive site for stuttering resources on the web at present to my knowledge.
Wikibook version of No Miracle Cures: A Multifactoral Guide to Stuttering Therapy by Thomas David Kehoe. Interesting book which covers a wide remit of stuttering issues and approaches. The author owns a company that manufactures Delayed Auditory Feedback (DAF) / Frequency-Shifted Auditory Feedback (FAF) devices so this angle is pushed the most, but not to a myopic level. Note that there is a pdf version of the book as well as the individual html links per chapter. His website, contains additional material including streaming videos of him demonstrating his various devices.
