Basenji Mum presents...
Roo-Grr and Eeyore's Curly  Basenji Tale
"Life...
as seen though the eyes of a Basenji"
Baroo...here I am. My name is Roo-Grr, I am a 8 year old trindle basenji with a very curly tail and some basenji tales to tell.  I am also here to pass a message to prospective dog owners to "please" do your dog breed research before you bring a baby pup into your home.  My human parents took 4 years of researching different breeds "before" they brought me home.

I am known as the "African barkless dog" cause I don't bark, but I make all kinds of other noises (hence my name = RooGrr).  I like to baroo & yodel with my brother Eeyore (he is a brindle basenji & is 8 years old too).  Sometimes we snark at each other and Ma says it sounds like we are fighting, especially if one of us sees a cat or another dog near our yard (we are not really fighting...we are arguing).   Ma says we act like 2 yr old human children, well...we are her furkids.

We LOVE to chase cats.  One time Eeyore caught the neighbours cat inside our garage.  Ma grabbed a bucket of water and soaked Eeyore before he would let the poor kitty go.  One of these days, us basenji's are supposed to go lure coursing & chase the pretend fuzzy rabbit, but Ma dosen't trust us off leash.  Infact we NEVER have been allowed to run loose.  Our basenji daddy "Tigger" was killed by a car.  So, rule #1 when ever your basenji is outside NEVER let your basenji off leash, always keep him safe in an escape proof yard (preferably supervised too!)
Hi, my name is Donna and I am basenji Mum to Roo-Grr and Eeyore.   Bryan (my husband) and myself have been basenji parents for eight years (here in the sunny Okanagan Valley, BC Canada).  We are not breeders of basenjis...no, just lovers of this breed.  I like the qualities basenji's have (actually I have been told I am rather like my basenji's) being shy, strong willed, independent, smart, mischievous, enterprising, aloof and stubborn.  Guess thats why I love these creatures so much!!!   Our basenji fur kids are always getting into something...did I mention they are mischievous?  Roo started writing his puppy journal shortly after moving in with us...have a peek.

You'll likely see more pics of Roo than Eeyore cause Roo is "always" looking for something to do and usually getting in trouble trying to do it.  And, besides, Eeyore is way too smart to get caught!
Our basenji mum is always sayin...
"if I got a dollar everytime I kiss one of you
basenji boyz,  I'd be a millionare!"
(and then she gives us another smooch)
