BALAM

Balam is a demon, recognized as a king among their kind and is the 51st recorded spirit in the sacred Ars Goetia.

Balam is a charmer that navigates existence through a wide array of social talent, teaching wit so that others may be impressed and granting the power of invisibility. They are also skilled in the art of Divination and will give answers truthfully and perfectly towards inquiries regarding their revelations. These abilities may both teach one to become more comfortable with the presence of others and allude to how to manipulate them, particularly when attempting to cheat or stake gambits. They command a court of around 240,000 demons.

They appear like a humanoid, either with the head of a man, a bull, or a ram, sometimes all of these together and sometimes a single chimera of the three. A slithering serpent's tail grows from below their back and their eyes may erupt with flames during an unsavory mood. A large and spiteful bear is their mount and in their hand sits a hawk, specifically a goshawk. They seem to flaunt these animals around as if they were prize-winning fair attractions, and it's quite possible that they are.

Social gatherings and competitions lie perfectly into Balam's practice, and it is surprising that their antics does not land them an unfavorable relation with other spirits. Contact with this demon may allow an easing out of akwardness and provocation of self-analysis, which in turn can encourage the confidence to get one over on those who keep your head down. They always revel in a reward for their actions, and thus an offering of gold or silver is duly appreciated after services have been conducted. Bears, hawks and goats are all sacred to Balam.
