DIMINISHED CHORDS
Naturals are the white keys on a Piano
Accidentals are the black notes on a Piano.
[FLAT (b) to the left___________SHARP (#) to the right]
Accidentals add 1 fret up all shapes for (#)sharps

Accidentals drop 1 fret down for flats (e.g. Bb from B)
Tenor Banjo
Diminished chords on Tenor Banjo (Tuned entirely in FIFTHs)
STOCK VOICING: The following is an easy all-purpose grip .
Diminished (7th) with all four voices.
The Diminished scale has a Whole tone__Half tone- construction.
The Twelve notes of the Chromatic Scale are divided up in an
octave, removing 4 notes in the Whole Tone__ skips of the
Diminished Scale.
~3~ Dim. Scales starting on B Natural, C Natural ,and C#/Db,
ultimately, can show that the pattern has a symmetry, repeating
every 3 fret/semi-tones.
 --(C#/Db)__(D#/Eb)-E___(F#/Gb)-G________A-(A#/Bb)___C-(C#/Db)
 -C_______D-(D#/Eb)___F-(F#/Gb)___(G#/Ab)A-________B-C........
 B_(C#Db)-D_________E-F_________G-(G#/Ab)__(A#/Bb)-B..........

The odd scale notes are all roots of the same Basicgrip where the
chord's name allots a different intervallic designation.
Two Tritones separate by a Sixth is the Basic Dim' Grip's
breakdown.
R...m3....#4/b5...bb7 {double flat-7th} is the root position
spelling of a Diminished chord. The tuning precludes a Banjo
ever allowing that voicing.
The Basic Dim' Grip gives by inversions, four basic shapes
in one, in 3 groups (B, and C,and C#.for example...)
~R___b5__m3__bb7~
~m3_bb7__b5__R__~
~b5__m3__bb7_R__~
~bb7__m3_R__b5__~
ROMAN numeral I,II,III ,IV in these grip/tabs are indicating the
fret numbers of the lowest fingering (Left 1)
The Diminshed chord can take its name from any of the 4 notes
in the grip, and the 4 notes change in that designation, every
three frets up ///or down///.
The three Diminished groups, chromatically, say B Dim, C Dim, C#/Db Dim
can take their names in turn, each from these distinct combinations.
