A family inherits a spectacular old house from an eccentric uncle. There's just one problem: the house seems to have a dangerous agenda all its own. Trapped in their new home by strangely shifting walls, the family encounters powerful and vengeful entities that threaten to annihilate anyone in their path. Soon the family is joined by an offbeat ghost hunter who is determined to free the spirits imprisoned in the house. Caught in a frantic race to save themselves before it is too late, the human inhabitants realize the house is a riddle which contains the key to their imminent salvation - or destruction.

I watched this movie twice, once by myself and once with my boyfriend. I liked it alot, I mean the plot lacked some depth, but it was worth it for what it was. I never jumped or even got slightly scared, but I loved the ideas this movie had. It was completely different then alot of horror films out there. It wasn't one of those "Oh my god, this is fantasic. Let's tell everyone we see." type films. It was some entertianment that was all. Nothing Academy Award winning or anything, but it wasted an hour and a half for me. Which was all I asked from it. I found a couple of my favorite actors in it, although I must saw that Maggie wasn't needed at all. They should of done away with her, all she did was Ethnic jokes, and it brought down the darkness of the movie. Horror flicks don't need a comic relief, ok? Yes, her jokes were funny, but it ruined the movie.

Well unlike They, this is a R rated horror movie. It was a pretty decent movie when it comes to most of the crap that comes out now, and its filled with blood and gore...well ghostly blood and gore. The ghosts were all pretty cool, and each one had a specific story, however they really don't go into the story of any of them but one. I was told that the DVD has shorts about the ghosts, but I don't know that for sure myself. The actual plot was a little light, it relies mostly on the ghosts, and chase scenes to get through the movie, with the occasional break for slightly flat dialogue. Also, the turn at the end I felt was a bit over the top, especially with the opening scene portraying one thing (hard to explain without spoiling). This is worth seeing though for the strange ghosts, and the really kick @$$ house that the ghosts are all stuck in. And guys, The hot foreign chick from American Pie is in it to!
