Action/Adventure 2 hrs. 01 min. Based on the legendary flagship character of Marvel comics, this is the story of Peter Parker, a student living with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben after the death of his parents when he was very young. He's an avid student with a much-less-than-stellar social life and a knack for bad luck. When a freak accident miraculously grants him incredible spider-like abilities, in effect, it makes him into the amazing Spider-Man. Peter will find that there's a thin line between an ordinary man and an extraordinary hero; and he'll have to be the one to cross it.

I am not a big comic book fan, as a matter of a fact the only comic books I have ever seen were either in a store or laying around my brother's bed room. My boyfriend is a big fan of comic book characters, and whenever I see something like this on TV, I know we will be seeing it in theaters, whether I want to or not. We went to see this the same day we saw Star Wars episode two, and I have to say though cheesy I did enjoy it.
The lines are a bit corny, and the fact that he wasn't worried at all that he could climb walls now was a bit stupid, I guess. He just got these powers and thought they were cool didn't even cross his mind that something might be wrong. But what do you expect out of a comic book story? From what I have seen Spiderman cartoons and comic books aren't meant to be taken to deeply. I mean this is a man with spider powers it's suppose to be silly.
Tobey Maquire was an excellent spiderman, he plays a nerdy boy afraid to talk to the girl next door. No one is more perfect for the part then he was, this movie was worth paying to see in theaters.

THANK GOD they finally made a decent spiderman movie. Probably one of the best superheroes of all time. Mild mannered Peter Parker is bitten by a radioactive spider....and becomes Spiderman! I was really looking forward to this movie as soon as I heard it was coming out, and when I finally did see it, I was completely NOT dissapointed. It stuck very true to the comics, and really had a silly comic book feel to it. It didn't take itself overally seriously, and had a lighter side to it. The CGI for Spiderman was decent. At times it seemed a little to unrealistic, but thats definately a mood point. I really liked Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. He's down to earth, and not superheroish (if thats a word) at all, much like Peter Parker is in the comics. Willem DaFoe is excellent as the green goblin, and he really brings alive the part. I don't know what else to say but when Spiderman 2 comes out, I'll be the first in line. See it, I command it!
