Snow Patrol is a band from the UK, and the listener can pick up on this if he or she pays attention to the way each song is sung. This is Snow Patrol’s third album, but I think it is their first major release in the United States. I’m not too sure, but what I hear from Snow Patrol is that the band is influenced by another British band, Oasis. I believe that Snow Patrol is also influenced by The Pixies and Soundgarden, which is also apparent on this album.
This is one of those rare gems that are on the new release shelf for a pretty good price. I know my copy was relatively cheap compared to most other CDs, and it certainly is a great pick up. It’s a fun CD just to sit around listening to. It’s mellow and is really nice background music. It has a feel that is similar to pop music, but yet it’s different than most pop music that is out there today. I can’t quite put my finger on what makes it different from the other pop music; you have to give the album a listen to understand what I’m talking about.
Every song has a distinct sound, but yet they can all sound very similar. Each track seems to melt into the next one, and the whole album flows so well. The drums are prominent on each track, but they don’t overpower the listener. That is one of the best things about this album. Nothing is too overpowering on it, and that’s why it makes perfect study music.
Have you ever had the feeling that a song is familiar to you, even when you know that you have never heard it before in your life? That’s what happened to me with this album. Every song on it seems familiar to me, and I may have heard only one of them before. My two favorite tracks off of the album are Chocolate and Spitting Games. They are probably the two catchiest songs off of it, but the rest are all catchy as well. Every song is wonderful in its own little way. Every track off of this album has the potential to be a single, but I doubt that would ever happen.
Give this album a shot if you’re into new music. It’s so catchy that your friends may enjoy it, and it will eventually be a huge success. It definitely deserves to be big because it is very promising.
