Kris's Review

I have been waiting for this album to be released for a while. A few of my friends have his six track EP, which was very good and made me want a full album. I am not disappointed in this LP. This is Sam Roberts’ first full album and it is great. Sam Roberts looks kind of crazy in most of the pictures I have seen. That makes me like him so much more. He doesn’t care about how he looks. He looks sort of like a psychopath because he has an unkempt beard and his hair always looks a bit messed up. He just looks like the psycho killer next door.

All of the tracks on We Were Born In A Flame have a different sound, a different beat, and a different riff. A few of the songs remind me of the Beatles. They just have a Beatle rhythm and Beatle sound. They are mellow and it just adds a lot of flavor to the mix. Some of the tracks are delightful rock songs, which will help Sam get big here in the United States. He is already fairly big in Canada, so we must promote him to make him bigger here.

My favorite tracks so far are the first four off of the album. I have heard them before, but they sound different on this album. The rhythm is slightly changed on those tracks, and its fun to listen to the new version. I also like track number ten, No Sleep. It’s sort of mellow, and he sings in French on it, which is awesome. This Wreck Of A Life is also a great song. Just listen to the lyrics of This Wreck Of A Life and you will realize that everything he is saying is true.

This is an amazing album. Everyone should have the chance to hear it if they have the chance. Again Canada has created a treasure, and when us American get the chance to hear these treasures, we must seize the opportunity. This album should be fairly cheap at most music outlets, so pick it up if you see it. I recommend this album to anyone who wants to hear new rock music, to anyone who likes Matthew Good, or to anyone who has some money to burn. You will not be disappointed with this album.
