Take members of Zumpano, Destroyer, Limblifter, and The Evaporators, and add to that the amazing voice of Neko Case. Shake it up and what do you get?
The unique sound of The New Pornographers. Electric Version is the sophomore album from The New Pornographers, and in my mind, it makes the grade. I feel this album is better than the first album, Mass Romantic. The songs are a little more edgy and fit together a bit better. The songs that feature Neko Case are the best songs in my mind. She doesn’t sing on every track, but her voice adds something great to each song she is featured on.
My favorite song on the album is The Laws Have Changed.
Neko Case sings on this one, and it is amazing. My other favorites are The New Face of Zero and One, From Blown Speakers, and Miss Teen Wordpower.
I really like this album. The riffs are extremely catchy, and the tracks flow from one to the next. Plus, like I said earlier, Neko Case sings on a lot more tracks than she did on Mass Romantic. I definitely recommend this album to anyone interested in hearing new, quality Canadian music.
