Action/Adventure 1 hr. 41 min. Robert Rodriguez returns with the mythic guitar-slinging hero, El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas), in the final installment of the Mariachi/Desperado trilogy. The saga continues as El Mariachi makes his way across a rugged landscape on the blood trail of Barrillo (Willem Dafoe), a cartel kingpin with one last score to settle who is planning a coup d’etat against the president of Mexico. Enlisted by Sands (Johnny Depp), a corrupt CIA agent, El Mariachi demands retribution, and the adventure begins against a backdrop of revolution, greed, and revenge.

I heard about this film around the beginning of September. I thought it looked really good, especially since it’s a sequel to the 1995 film Desperado. The cast is a fairly high profile one. Antonio Banderas, Johnny Depp, Salma Hayek, Willem Dafoe, and Enrique Iglesias to name a few. The actors fit their characters perfectly. They make the film fun for everyone that watch it.
The action scenes are amazing. I basically wanted to see what sort of action sequences Rodriguez would put in this film. I was not let down with the action scenes. I was, however, a little dismayed at how far a single bullet can make a man fly across a room. Every time a man was caught jumping and then shot in the air by Banderas, the man would fly across the room or the street.
This movie is quite humorous as well. Johnny Depp’s character is very funny. He has some very funny lines, one being “Are you a Mexi-Can or Mexi-Can’t?” There is also a scene where Banderas and Hayek are chained together and they must escape. That scene was very funny as well. There were a few painful scenes, but I won’t go into details. Let’s just say that this is not a film directed towards children. It can be gory at times, especially in the last half hour.
I recommend this film to anyone who liked El Mariachi or Desperado. I also recommend it to all the Johnny Depp lovers out there. This is a very good action film. It’s much better than the action films of the summer. If you want to see a different sort of action film definitely see this one.
