This album is Matthew Good’s best album yet. This is Good’s first solo album, and it is great. The tracks blend together so well, yet every track has a different sound. I waited anxiously just to hear tracks from this album because I knew they would be awesome.
The first single from Avalanche is Weapon. This is one of my favorite songs; it starts out kind of slow and quiet, then it builds and builds, then gets kind of quiet again. The other single so far is In A World Called Catastrophe. At first I did not like this song too much, but now it is one of my favorites from the album. The song just flows so nicely, and the video is very cool. The other great songs are 21st Century Linving, Double Life, and Pledge of Allegiance, but all of the songs are very good.
I feel bad for most Americans because the only Canadian music they get to hear is Nickleback, Celine Dion, and Avril Lavigne. Avril is decent, but most Americans do not have the pleasure of hearing the great Canadian music.
Matthew Good is one of the treasures Canadian music offers. If MTV would give Matthew Good a chance, he would be big down here; I can almost guarantee that. Most people will not get the chance to hear any songs off Avalanche because this CD is hard to find down here, but if you ever get the chance, take a listen. The only Matthew Good album most people can find down here is the American release of Beautiful Midnight, which is also very good. Definitely give Avalanche a listen if you can ever find it.
