Kris's Review

I have to admit that I have never really been a hug fan of Marilyn Manson. At least, not until about two months ago. That is when I first heard mOBSCENE, and I have to say that it soon became one of my favorite songs. Since I heard mOBSCENE, I have listened to more Manson songs and have learned to respect him a lot more than I used to. I also gained a lot of respect for Manson when I saw the interview Michael Moore put in his film, Bowling for Columbine. Manson is a very smart person, and when I saw that interview he sort of shocked me. Who knew that this guy who wears makeup and dresses like a girl sometimes could be so smart?

Anyway, back to my thoughts on The Golden Age Of Grotesque. I really like this album. I don’t know if it’s because of the lyrics, the riffs, or the catchy beats. All the tracks blend together very well, and not all the songs are loud, which makes for an interesting listen. Most of the tracks are loud, but a few aren’t, and I really like that about this album.

My favorite songs at the moment are This Is The New S**t and mOBSCENE. This Is The New S**t is a catchy song, I know that may be difficult to comprehend because it is Manson, but it’s true. And mOBSCENE is just a loud, great song. I love the way he sings/yells it, and the background music blends so well with the lyrics.

This is a great album. It’s not as outrageous as his older stuff, which may be why some people don’t like it, but I think it could get him some new fans. It isn’t as offensive as his older stuff may seem, and that is a definite plus for him this time around. If you have never heard any of Manson’s stuff, take a listen to mOBSCENE because it’s a song you can really get into. Give this album a shot if you want to hear something different.
