Kris's Review

Wow, this album is awesome. Yes, it is Johnny Cash and that is why it is so great. I am not a fan of country music, but once I heard Hurt I knew I was in for a treat. Every song is different, but they are all performed extremely well. There are six or seven cover songs on here, which I think is really interesting.

Nine Inch Nails originally performed Hurt, I Hung My Head was originally performed by Sting, Depeche Mode originally performed Personal Jesus, and The Eagles performed Desperado.

I must say that Hurt by Johnny Cash rivals the original, and I love Johnny Cash’s version of I Hung My Head more than Sting’s version. My favorite songs on this album are The Man Comes Around, Hurt, Give My Love To Rose, I Hung My Head, Personal Jesus, Sam Hall, and, Desperado.

Give My Love To Rose won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. The album was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals. This is a great album, and perfect for anyone who loves country, loves Johnny Cash, or just loves music.
