Take the sound of The Strokes, Jack White, The Rolling Stones, The Hives, and parts of Aerosmith, put them in a bowl and mix it up, and what do you have? You would have the unique sound of Jet. It’s an interesting blend of sounds and influences.

The lead singer sounds a lot like Jack White on certain parts of certain songs. In Are You Gonna Be My Girl, he sounds almost exactly like Jack White. That was the first thought in my mind when I heard him sing it. Are You Gonna Be My Girl is my favorite song on the album so far. That’s probably because I’ve heard part of the song on a commercial, so my ears are used to hearing that song.

Most of this album rocks, but there are a few ballads on it. The guitar riffs are really catchy, and remind me a bit of The Strokes. The overall sound is something that is sort of Strokesish. Most of the songs flow nicely together. It’s a little awkward when the rock songs flow into the next track, which is a ballad. That just doesn’t seem to fit too well.

All of the songs are catchy in their own way. The ballads are a little more acoustic and that makes them fun to listen to. The rock tracks are even more fun to listen to because you can just rock out to them. It’s perfect driving music.

If you like The Strokes, The Hives, or The White Stripes then you will probably enjoy this band. It’s fun new music and as you know, new music is always a good thing. Give it a chance; you may surprise yourself by liking something new.
