Description

Action/Adventure and Comedy 1 hr. 57 min. CIA operative Kevin Pope (Chris Rock) is suave, brilliant, and right on the verge of completing a top-secret mission to keep a rogue nuclear weapon off the black market when he is suddenly killed. With the clock ticking and no other options available, the CIA reluctantly enlists Kevin's long-lost identical twin brother, Jake (also Chris Rock, of course), to take his place. But since Jake is the mirror opposite of Kevin, a working-class Joe, it's up to veteran CIA agent Gaylord Oakes (Anthony Hopkins) to train him within 9 days to become a spy.

Joe's Review

Bad Company may be another no-brains Bruckheimer action adventure flick but certainly doesn’t have the pizzazz of his previous efforts. It is difficult to categorize this film as it is neither exceptionally good nor is it a total bomb. The balance definitely tips more toward the negative as you break down the problems of the film. The biggest prominent problem was the inconsistent tone of the feature as it went from being extremely funny to weird to serious in a short period of time. Another problem was a slight story element that kept being brought up by Chris Rock’s character film in which he talks about a so-called between Hopkin’s character and a fellow female CIA agent. The problem with this is that you almost never see the two together in the film and when they, there is barely any closeness between them what-so-ever. Jerry Bruckheimer should be greatly respected for the work he does in Hollywood but Bad Company is definitely not his finest moment. The film may be good for those really lazy summer days but doesn’t come close to matching up with Spider-Man or The Sum of All Fears in the summer box office race.
