Description

"D" has been hired to track down Meier Link, a notoriously powerful vampire who has abducted Human woman. Charlotte Elbourne. "D"’s orders are strict - find Charlotte, at any cost. For the first time, "D" faces serious competition. The Markus Brothers, a family of Vampire Hunters, were hired for the same bounty. "D" must intercept Meier and conquer hostile forces on all sides in a deadly race against time. Despised by Vampires for his profession and by Humans for the blood in his veins, "D" relentlessly pursues his prey… for a price.

Becca's Review

Well this plot and animation was quite a bit better then the first, Vampire Hunter D. The plot leads you to believe that the story is one way when you find out later that it has a completely different direction. "D" is forced to decide on the cash or love. Unlike the first there was no forced love between the two main characters. They only hinted that she might be in love with him, and she never acts upon it which is a great relief to me. I get so tired of watching movies like Princess Mononoke and watching a plot that doesn't even need love, have a forced love between the two main characters. It takes away from the story a great deal. I'm sorry I won't believe they instantly fall in love the moment they lay eyes on eachother. That's called a crush. *puff puff* Anyway, you will find none of that in Bloodlust.

If anything you will find a deep understanding for one another, and at the end "D" keeps a promise to his friend. It does friendship very nicely, the animation is wonderful, and the plot is fantastic. You travel along more with the Markus brothers then you do "D", but "D" isn't much of a talker anyway. So, hearing everything from their side, and seeing what they are going through works out well.

Jeff's Review

I found this movie to be fantastic. It took all the good aspects of Vampire Hunter D, and added much better action and story. Although they go very little into the background of "D", and more into the background of the Markus brothers, and Charlotte and Meier, they still keep his very dark and mysterious aura around "D", giving him the same bad@$$ image they setup in the first one. This movie can be seen by itself, and make complete sense without seeing the first one, however if you want to completely understand "D", and the world they live in, its better to see the first one, and then see this one.

The fighting scenes were excellently done, and all the villains were very unique, and had very unique powers (much like in Ninja Scroll). The story was much more exciting then the first, and the whole movies chase premise really pulls in its viewers.

As Becca said there was a slight theme of love, but it was done very well, and really was more of a comradery theme then a love really. The ending kind of adds a weird twist too, with antagonist changes, and many plot twists that are completely unexpected. I really had no gripes with this, and I doubt you will either, so check it out if you want to be thoroughly entertained in every way.
