This is simply a document to tell a little about a few pictures I've taken using my 85/1.8 Nikkor.

Equipment: Nikon FE-2 with Nikkor 85 1.8 lens. No filter or hood.

I absolutely love this lens, especially when I open it up to capture just my subject. I wanted to put a couple of pics up so if someone is considering the lens (mine was in great shape, purchased on e-bay for $200) they at least have some idea of what images look like.

Note on the scans: All scans are straight from my Kodac Picture CD. I reduced the size using Lview, and on the Red Knight and Josh in the swing I cropped a little. If I knew how to use photoshop I'm sure I could improve on them a bit. My monitor at home isn't terribly great (but only 12 years old) so I really don't know how the reduced size looks. At work, on my whiz-bang Pentium, they look pretty good straight from the CD (but are 300K in size).

Update 09/05/01: If I can locate the CD I'll try and improve and expand on this page a bit by removing the 'photoshop haze' and finding some more, interesting pics. I have a serious box full of photos and CD's and stuff so there should be more to come. -- Brian

Anna trying to stay awake

Josh is thrilled with the show

The above two images were taken at the local Rennaisance festival. (If you think they are any good, tell my wife, as I was holding Josh at the time so she took both of these). Film is Reala, exposure unknown.

Anna and a friend

Another image, again Reala. I took this one :-)

The Red Knight! Our Hero!

This is why the kids were so sleepy in the above pics.
If they would only use real swords...

At the park

A different day, this one was NPH. I cropped to get rid of the (IMO) ugly baby in the next swing.

Whee...

Another shot using NPH.

If you have any questions about this lens, I'd be happy to answer them. Just e-mail me.
