I run north to Sudbury in Ontario, and back down to the Big Smoke*. I like to stop at the Tim Horton's in Nobel, just north of Parry Sound. They have enough room for about six trucks in the truck parking lot and you can shoe-horn your beast into various areas. Sounds simple enough, eh?
But hang on. I have witnessed along with a few others, "Professional" drivers climbing over the curbs and through the flower beds to turn around and face the opposite way they came in. One drove into the car parking lot, went over the curb and dragged the garbage can to the other side and then back out, leaving the can in pieces and garbage in the driveway.
Most of these trucks are piloted by at least two people, and no, they ain't wearin' turbins. About half can't get the hang of parking straight either. They roll in, swing around and dynamite the binders, taking up three potential spaces. Some go to sleep parked like that.
As I was leaving the other night, the place was attacked by a convoy all from the same company. One came in one way, another came in the back road, helter-skelter everywhere. I was waiting at the edge of the highway to make a left. Not really enough room for a truck to enter while I was there, BUT, in he came.
I had to take rapid evasive action to keep my hood. I enquired if he had taken a handfull of "stupid pills" on the CB, but no answer. After I had started on down the road, I could hear these "pro's" on the radio. They sounded like a bunch of know-it-all-rookies.
I guess the cheque cleared. Am I whining again? Damned right I am!
My question is; are these new drivers being trained to drive like this? They seem to have retained their bad car driving habits.
