Chapter 7: Victory!!!
"YEAH!! We won, you lost!!! We kicked ass!!!! Your team sucked, you blew it!! We kicked and you knew it!!! HA HA HA!" AJ sang. He sang his happy little tune over and over again just to annoy Brian, Kevin and Nick. Instead he was annoying everyone.
"Yo AJ! Please stop! Man, do you know exactly how annoying that is?" Nick exclaimed turning to look at AJ.
"Huh? Sorry guys, it's just that...well, that's the first time I've actually won a game of basketball against you, Kev and Rok! So, I kinda have to gloat!" AJ replied with a huge smile. (*AN: For the purpose of this story, this is his first win. Although he probably has won against them before!*)
"Yeah, ok, I guess you're right," Nick said. He then turned his attention to Manda and Mel. "Hey, I didn't know you guys were so good at basketball."
"Yeah, well, we're on the senior girls Varsity Basketball team back home. We've won 3 championships in a row but other than that, we catch every Houston Comets and Kentucky Wildcats game to pick up some pointers," Mel replied as she started to blush.
"Hey, you like the Wildcats?" Brian asked in a surprised voice.
Manda smirked as Mel said, "Um, not to be rude or anything, but is this one of your blonder moments??" She pointed to her hat and jersey.
This made the rest of the group, including Brian, laugh.
"Man, Rok, she got you good! Thatsa my girl!" AJ said in an Italian accent putting his arm around Mel's shoulders.
"Oh really, McLean? You don't wanna see what I can do to you!" Mel said with a grin as she gave Manda a high five.
"You go girl!" Manda laughed.
"Yeah, you go girl!" Nick mocked with sarcasm to AJ.
AJ shook his head. "Nick, man, I ain't taking myself there and you better not either!" AJ said.
Manda smiled. "Aww, Nicky, you're so cute! Just because of that, you're just getting off with a warning. The next time you do something like that, I'll personally get the four guys to hurt you, Badly!" she said as she pinched Nick's cheek in a granny way.
"Yeah Manda! But, I wouldn't want Nick here to get hurt," Mel said making the room fill with laughter.
After the laughter had died down Kevin asked, "Hey guys, where are we eating?"
"I don't care. Whatcha up for AJ?" Mel asked as Manda shrugged her shoulders. "
Hmmm..."AJ was deep in thought. "How 'bout McDonalds?" AJ asked with a grin.He knew the fellas were going to protest to some degree.
"AAAJJJ! Aren't you sick of that place yet?" Nick whined.
"Nick, I could never get sick of eating there! Besides, the losers, which would be you guys, have to buy the winners, who are us, lunch anywhere we choose and I want McDonalds!" AJ whined the last part like a two year old.
The group went to a near by McDonalds. AJ ordered his usual #6 Combo-Quarter Pounder with cheese, large fries, large coke, Ice tea no lemon. Manda ordered large fries, a cheeseburger and an Oreo McFlurry. Mel ordered medium fries, large Diet Coke and a Smartie McFlurry.
While the others ordered what they wanted, Mel and Manda went to find a table for the six of them.
"Hey Mel?" Manda asked as they sat down.
"Yeah?"
"Do you think the guys like us?"
"Manda, what do you think??" Mel asked. Manda shrugged.
"Well, I don't know. I guess so," she said.
"Well, believe it 'cause we do," Nick said as he approached the table. He overheard the whole conversation.
"NICK!" Manda gasped as she looked up at Nick. "Oh...Uh...Hey!" she said nervously.
"Did you really think we hated you when we wanted to see you after the show and again today?" AJ asked as Nick told the rest of the guys what happened.
Manda shrugged. "Well, it's just that we've never seen you guys in concert, let alone played basketball and ate lunch with you before today. It's just a lot to take in all at once," she explained.
"Not that we don't enjoy hanging out with you guys. I'm having a lot of fun!!" Mel added.
They all sat down and ate their lunch. About half way through, Kevin started to ask questions bout the girls so that they could get to know them better.
"So, where are you guys from?" Kevin asked as the attention was turned to the two girls.
"We're from a little city called Peterborough. It's about an hour and half drive from here," Manda replied. She was beginning to loosen up around the guys.
"Do you have any brothers or sisters?" Nick asked.
"I have a 12 and a half year old sister named Cortney, who, by the way, loves your brother Aaron!" Mel said as she forced a smile.
"And I have a 15 year old sister named Sonia," Manda answered with the same expression as Mel.
"What's wrong?" AJ asked both of the girls.
"Both of our sisters really wanted to come. But since I won three tickets and a five day, four night stay in Toronto, I could only bring two people with me. One of them was Manda so, I could bring one other person. I couldn't bring my sister because she's to young and if I brought Sonia, what kind of a sister would I be to Cortney? I couldn't bring one of my other two best friends so, I brought my mom since she wanted to see some old friends and my Aunt Julie lives in this area. That way, I would still be loved when I get back home," Mel explained and then added, "Besides, me and Panda Bear needed to do some friendship 'bondage'."
Manda glanced over at Mel and gave her a look that said,'You just said my nickname in front of the Backstreet Boys!'
Mel replied with a look that said, 'Sorry, it kinda slipped.'
"So, how long have you two known each other?" AJ asked.
"Well, I've known Jenn, Jo and Manda since we were four years old. We all lived on the same street," Mel replied with a smile and looked over at Manda as she finished answering the question. "We've been through a lot together and we've always been there for each other no matter what. United we stand, Divided we fall," she said with a smile.
"Well, I hate to shorten this up kiddies but, we've been here for a while," Kevin stated as he looked at his watch.
"Kev, why do you have to be so parental?" Nick asked.
"Well Nick, the cashiers are starting to stare because we've been here for a while," Kevin replied.
"Ok then, do you guys wanna do somethin'?" Nick asked the group.
"We aren't doing anything so, ok sure," Mel said looking over at Manda who nodded.
"Ok, now that we have that settled, what are we gonna do?" Manda asked looking at everyone.
"Why don't we go to that amusement park around here?" Brian asked.
"You mean Canada's Wonderland? The one place where you guys might get clobbered by thousands of fans?" Mel asked.
AJ nodded. "Yeah, sure. It's our treat!" he said with a smile.
"Sure," Mel said.
Manda smiled. "Why not?" she said and then added, "Mel, why don't you call your mom so she doesn't get worried?"
"Yeah, I guess I better," Mel said as she pulled out her cell. "Hey Mom. Oh, hey Aunt Jules. Is my mom there? Thanks...Hey Mom! Why did Aunt Jules answer your phone? Oh, I see. Ok, well, the guys I told you about asked us to go to Canada's Wonderland. Yes Mom, that's them," Mel said as she started to blush but continued, "Yeah, ok Mom. I will. Love you Mom! 'Bye," she finished. "She says 'hi' to you guys," Mel said to the group.
"Ok, can we go now?" Nick asked in a whine.
The drive took them about an hour from the McDonalds they were at. They had decided to take two cars just so that it wouldn't be too obvious to fans that might have been there.
In Kevin's Black Celica were Mel, AJ, Q, and Jeff, AJ and Kevs bodyguards. In Nick's Green Dodge Durango there was Manda, Brian,and Brian and Nicks bodyguards,Adam, and Tré,.
Once they had arrived at the park, Mel turned to Manda and said, "Manda, when Jenn and Jo find out that we spent the day with 4 of the Backstreet Boys, man, who knows what they'll do."
"Yeah, I know. They'll probably be jealous," Manda replied with a smile.
"Hey, who's Jenn and Jo?" Kevin asked.
"They are the two best friends I said that I couldn't bring just one of," Mel explained smiling at Kevin. The guys paid for their way into the park.
"Where do you want to go first?" Mel asked no one in particular. "Let's go that way," AJ suggested pointing to the left. "Ok," everyone said in unison. They were off in the direction of the big mountain.
