Packing List
Are We There Yet, Mom?

"Better to do a good deed at home, than to burn incense far away." A Chinese Proverb

I got my referral on January 28, 2002! We will travel to China on March 12 and return home on April 3, 2002. The weather will be perfect, between 65-75 degrees F. We will fly into Hong Kong, and then into Guilin, where we will take a day trip on the Li River, which is said to be one of the most beautiful places in all of China. From Guilin, we will fly to Nanning, where we will meet our babies on March 19, which is Kate's birthday! After one week of completing paperwork in Nanning, we will fly to Guangzhou to finalize the adoption. From Guangzhou, we go back to Hong Kong for a couple of days and then fly home! We have quite a trip planned and anxiously await travel for Kate!

NOTE: We will use packmates to save space in our suitcases, as we plan to go carry-on only. Here are photos of what we took. We ended up buying a huge suitcase in Guangzhou to fill with treasures that we bought on our trip.

Gifts for Nannies

I bought some very pretty necklaces on sale at Macy's for the females' gifts. Macy's gave me red boxes to put the gifts in and I will probably tie ribbons over the "Macy's Logo". I bought the baby's main caretaker a heart necklace. There are 6 necklaces in total. I also took a beautiful ball- point pen made by Shaeffer USA for the orphanage director who is a man.
