Today, Jeff, my brother, myself, and Kate are leaving to go and get Claire! We flew American Airlines from Miami to New York and then boarded our Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong at 1:50 pm. We flew right up over the North Pole. We are so very excited to know that we are so close to our new baby!

We arrived in Hong Kong at 8:10 pm without any problems and spent the night at the Regal Airport Hotel which gave us time for some much needed rest. I highly recommend travelling to China at least 2 or 3 days prior to getting your babies. Now, we will fly to Nanchang to meet Claire...soon!

Nanchang was extremely HOT! We arrived at the airport which is surrounded by mountains. The heat just seems to collect in the town. There a millions of people and we had to stand in line to get through customs. Then, we boarded a van to go to The Lakeview Hotel. I always enjoy driving through China and seeing everyone go about their busy days. There was so much to look at and Kate enjoyed it, too. Our best friend from Seattle, Kathryn, was waiting for us at the front door and was so excited! All I could see when the van pulled up to the hotel was this beautiful woman with the greatest, biggest smile. She was absolutely giddy and overjoyed at the prospect of becoming a mommy for the first time! It was a beautiful thing! We were both in the same travel group but had never met. She and her husband live in Seattle and I in Miami, so we became best friends via computer! It was great to finally meet her in person. She will be a best friend forever and so will our babies!
July 28, 2004, Gotcha Day!
Well, I finally got to meet and hold my little baby today! She is gorgeous and looks super healthy! She is a big baby and has no hair! LOL She cried for the first 3 hours but then she played with Kate and I in the hotel. She also eats everything in sight!
