After having back labor and some serious pain Sarah was given an epidural to ease the pain and it worked swell. She was much happier after that and continued labor pain free. But then around 8:30 after many checks on her cervix to see how it was progressing they found she had only dialated to a 4 in 24 hours after the induction and 14 hours after the pitocin was administered, so now we had to make a decision. She and the baby were risking infection if they waited because it had been so long since the water broke, and the doctor didn't think she would progress much more no matter how long we waited. On top of all of that the baby's head was at a wierd angle putting excess pressure on the cervix and making it difficult to expand, so we made a decision. Sarah got a C-Section.
The C-Section was difficult for Sarah. She was numb, yet nausiated during a good part of it.
After much cutting and tugging (which I nearly passed out over several times) the baby was out and I took his first picture.
