Traditional Terran Clothing
Clothing is a very important aspect of Terran life. Clothes show rank, membership of certain guilds and fellowships, heritage, and even how one feels on certain topics. Most wealthy Terrans usually have someone available to help with their daily dress. The poor usually have enought money to have at least three changes of clothing.

Important parts of the male outfit is a tunic with large, draping sleeves that is wrapped around over a high necked shirt, usually with a stone at the base of the throat. A large sash is wrapped the tunic and a sleeveless outer coat completes the outfit. Boots are usual worn to accompany the entourage.

The female oufit is more medival in appearance. There are only two aspects that are uniform in each dress. The base of the throat is open to the air and each gown has a sash, string, or seam of some sort.

There are numerous variations on the basic design, each with a specific purpose.
Nobility
The Nobility can get very picky when it gets to their clothing. From the lack of originality from this gown, it is apparent to the public that it is being worn from someone of a dying clan. The gold represents the wearer's inexperience in the political arena. The green signifies the support of the Earthens, though it is obviously worn by a Windarian. The string of pearls holding the green in place shows a lack of participation in guilds and fellowships. The opaque sleeves represent a human heritage as only full Terrans may wear coloured sleeves.

The webbed amethysts at the throat show status as a matriarch, but the lack of a diadem is from either lack of formality or to show a lack of rank. The amethysts next to the eyes show great wealth and rank.

Mage Council
The Mage Council, those in charge of all magical activity, are dressed to show such important rank. In the picture, the highly accented waist shows off the black stone worn by all Council members.

The black cape shows neutrality in the 'competition' between elements. The predominately red edges and red inner lining show a Firian heritage. The other colours laced in the edging represents the interdependancy of the elements.

The beaded headdress show the status as Councillor and the earrings are those traditionally worn by high-ranking Firians.

On the underdresses green sleeve is a stone that magnifies the ability to read auras. The purple stones along the collar shows support for Windarian policies.

Dragonriders
Dragonrider formal apparel differentiates from others by simply being a coat over a dress. The inner colour shows Windarian support and a Firian heritage, which is also apparent in the face markings. The outer coat is coloured like that of the rider's dragon.

Few riders survive the death of their dragon, but those unfortunate to do so wear silver in memory of their partner.

Shoulder knots are worn by those who have earned the rank of master in a guild, fellowship, or in their profession.

Spacers and Pirates
Most Terrans of any element despise the company of any spacer or pirate, but know full well that their civilisation couldn't survive without them. All space-bound people wear clothing that not only allows great freedom of movement, but has an aura of danger and intrigue.

Numerous straps and belts hide countless firearms and knives from public view so that in case of danger, the weapons are present and ready to use. A small pouch on the right arm contains small dosages of healing potions for availability in a quick fix.

The red half-moon lends power to the part of the spacer that is dependent on the Lunarian technology; the small red circles represent a Firian heritage.

Ambassadors
Ambassadors must tread carefully as to not insult anybody. Their elaborate dress and facial markings lend a feeling of grandness that is to associated to the Terran people.

All ambassadorial gowns are wrapped around and tied with a waist sash. No guild or fellowship markings are shown as to remove as much opportunity for critisism as possible. The three elements that do not run in the ambassador's veins are displayed with the show of support to certain policies are displayed as the main colour on the gown. (Example, in the picture, the ambassador shows great support of the Aquian party.)

On the cape are two stars. The inside shows the element that presently sits on the throne (Queen Christine, originally a Firian, has been Queen since 1002 A.D), while the other elements, Life, and Peace surround it in support. The outer side is black to show that one is representing all of the elements, while the inner lining displays the ambassador's heritage.

The phoenix headress is used to show the Terran determination to withstand all threats; the star on the ambassador's forehead is used for grandeur effects.

That's all for now. If you wish to draw/colour a picture of a Terran for this page, please read the basic description of a Terran and send me the picture AS WELL AS A COMMENTARY ON THE CLOTHING'S SYMBOLISM! =D Other than that, have fun!

petite moi, who is quite aware that not all of these drawings are even close to the basic descriptions, but would kindly like to remind the general public that she drew these nearly a year before the basic descriptions came to her in a dream....

Trains
For greatly formal events, some of the nobility and royalty were heavily encrusted gowns, each with a theme or motif. They can be up to fifty feet in length and worth around 5 (about 980,000$, or 686,892, or 1 116 682 euros. Yikes!) Jewels are a common addition, multiplying the cost greatly.

Whenever a lady wishes to have a train made, she goes to a dressmaker with her ideas and has an estimate drawn up. After about two weeks, the trains are ready to go.

Train worn by Lady Taoko to her coronation
Lady Taoko's coronation gown has heavily jewelled designs of gold, silver, and copper with salmon brocade woven in. The border is of lace, diamonds, rubies, and emerald beads. Its designs bring rememberance to the Times of Joy and carry the Bryant family crest.

The Queen's senatorial train has golden vines with diamond grapes on copper velvet. Gold and copper form a Grecian border reminiscent of Lunarian architecture. The grapes represent the bountiful harvest the previous year.

The gown at left is from a Solstice Celebration from 1986. The extensive beadwork shows the status of a high-ranking clan. The diadem and webbed necklace show the rank of Matriarch. The colours are a neutral colour meaning either indecision or a lack of interest.

Royalty
Princess Kelsie Irine before the Senatorial Convention  in 1527
The royalty are required to be cautious in their dress, lest they insult the wrong people. The senatorial convening is undoubtedly the most important and formal event in the year which requires the presence of either the Queen or her descendents. Most years, the royalty wear white to show their desire for peace in their galaxy. In all other occasions, they wear red to show their heritage as Firians.
Princess Kelsie's gown worn to the Senatorial Convening of 1527 is long and flowing to show the continuing peace that had lasted 500 years. One of her handmaidens, Lady Doresad Karus, wore a similar gown for the public appearance that was inescapable for the then 400-year-old Windarian.

Trains are also inescapable affairs for any remotely formal event. For more information, see below.
The 1543 Senatorial gown worn by the Queen is in the ivory white of peace with golden edging to show the joy of the Terran people. The small interwoven diamonds each have tiny inscriptions of the Terran symbol of peace.

The black velvet trains bears designs of woven gold, silver, rubies, emeralds, amethysts, and sapphires.
Shadow Warriors
Shadow Warriors are a close-knit group that are usually much more loose when it comes to just training. Formal events, however, are a different matter entirely. The Shadows are the visual and not-so-visual aspects of the Queen's security. Originally created to protect the surviving Terrans after the Reckoning, they have grown in number considerably and are considered some of the most deadly fighters in the universe.

Each Shadow is well versed in all sorts of combat techniques and wear clothing appropriate to sudden attacks. Their formal attire consists of combat garb, cloaks and hairstyles peculiar to certain clans.

Gecko, the apprentice shown at right, wears the traditional stripes of a Firian apprentice. For modesty's sake, she also wears a wrap skirt sans decoration. As a Journeyman or Master collects recognition, various acknowledgements are adorned on the right side.

Her hair is pulled back in a bun encased by a beaded cover and a red ribbon woven throughout. Seeing as she is in the Water Temple, she wears no shoes.

Special Jewellery
Queen's Advisors
Those deemed by the Queen to be of great intelligence and of extraordinary loyalty are awarded with the position as one of her advisors. Few have acheived  this status and the positions are forfeited upon the death of the recipient. Each Advisor is given a necklace with each of the stones of the elements. (Rhododendrite for Fire, Lapis Lazuli for Water, Turqoise for Wind, and Malachite for Earth.)
