| Save The Last Dance Is Turning The Times Written By: Christina Sears �Save the Last Dance� is a slammin� combo of dance and drama,� says U.S. Weekly. It brings a young and fresh view on many generations. The movie brings into play different race relationships and the perspectives of those people within the community. Save the Last Dance gave the audience a look into a black community and their feelings on inter race relationships. Perspectives of a black community rather then have it vise versa like we always see. The movie is about a ballet dancer Sarah (Julia Stiles) who auditions for a dancing school and while she is dancing her mother gets into a car accident and dies. She is then forced to move on the other side of Chicago with her father. She is in a community where its mostly black people. When Sarah wants to give up on her dreams she meets Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas) who wont give up on her. The couple is faced with people who are hurt to see them together. On one occasion Derek�s best friend goes up to Sarah and says �You�ll never look as good as she does with him. You�re a milk there is no point in trying to mix.� Julia Stiles character would be described as a tough white girl who isn�t taking anyone�s crap in her new environment. Sean Patrick Thomas plays the all around guy who helps Julia�s character fulfill her dreams to attend Julliard. Many teenagers and relate to this movie. It teaches them about how life isn�t a walk in the park and you really have to take a look at your surroundings. It shows love and what it takes to hold a relationship together, and how there will be obstacles but you have to over come them as a team. It also shows teen mothers and how much they have to go through. And how it�s not easy for them to raise a child as a young adult. This movie will definitely catch the attention of many people of all different races and religions. It�s one of friendship, love, and has a hip-hop culture to it.
