Grease Is Still The Word!
Written By: Christina Sears

Grease is the most successful movie musical of all time. Debuted in 1978 and grossed more than $340 million at box offices around the world, becoming the biggest grossing movie musical in film history, a record that still stands today.

We know the plot. Weve seen it a gazillion times on TNT. American guy (John Travolta) meets Australian chick  (Olivia Newton John) for summer fling. Chick shows up at guys high school. Chick gets fed up with guys guyness. Chick commits massive makeover and gets guy back. Guy Chick and all their pals sing at every opportunity.

But like Jeff Conaway (Who plays Kenickie) said in an interview, Grease is something that comes around once, and it really is the Sr. year you always wanted. When most people think of Grease they think of a bunch of characters jumping around singing and dancing. But Grease is more than that. The songs they sing develop the mood of the scene or scenes ahead.

I think that the director did an amazing job in choosing actors such as John Travolta and Olivia Newton  John. I think this because John has that sexual appeal to him but also has a sensitive side. And that comes out in the move as her shines as Danny. Olivia brings out Sandys character as she has that image as a by-the-rules girl. As Rizzo says in the movie Shes too pure to be pink. Shes got that Barbie, goody two shoes look to her.
When Greases 20th Anniversary came up, it was the word on the street. It was like Grease was being reborn in many peoples lives once again. Only drawing in different generations from all over.

When we interviewed John Travolta and asked him how he felt about the movie he smiled and said, I wouldnt change it for any other movie Ive been in, because it meant so much        to so many people. Grease is still and always will be the word. Not only a musical but as stated by Mr. Conaway its a Sr. year everyone wishes they had.
