| Critics Corner Written By: Christina Sears Reviews Journalist As the saying goes There is no point in being a grown up if you cant be childish sometimes. Well the hottest movie to hit the screen this month is Casper. Casper is described as a mile-a-minutes adventure comedy for the whole family. Directed by Brad Silberling. The new movie makes everyone feel like a kid again. Who says there are no such things as ghosts? The citizens of Friendship, Maine, have long suspected that abandoned Whipstaff manor is haunted. The, one day, two new visitors show up on the doorstep of the old spooky mansion: Kat Harvey (Christina Ricci), and her father James Harvey (Bill Pullman), a therapist for the dead. Whipstaffs new demanding and selfish owner Carrigan Crittenden (Cathy Moriarty), has hired Dr. Harvey to exorcise the houses friendly but lonely young ghost named Casper and his three incorrigibly Odious uncles, Stretch, Stinkie, and Fatso, so that she can get her hands on Whipstaffs hidden treasure. Unfortunately for Dr. Harvey, the ghostly uncles, who lead dysfunctional afterlives, will not tolerate fleshies in their house. The Ghostly Trio has their own methods of getting rid of unnecessary visitors, and have a crazy, twisted sense of humor. A Cinderella story of the 90s, Casper is live-action fun-house ride from Amblin |
