Have you ever felt strange presences around you, ever
felt being watched when there is actually nobody around? I often get
these feelings especially when I'm alone at my house, I know most people
now-a-days don't believe in Supernatural mumbo-jumbos but this kind of
feeling inspired me to write more chapters for this manga project. The
idea for Suu-Momo actually hit me while I was playing around with the
sleeve of my coat, the sleeve was long so when I extend my arms my hands
sink down the sleeves. I thought that it would look cute if a girl would
be flinging her arms around having her hands hidden under her loose
sleeve and she would hold the sleeves with her fingers. It sounds kinda
silly, so I thought I'd make a manga out of a girl who likes to
wear long sleeves and play around with them. After a long thought I
never had any good ideas about what kind of personality that girl will
have, she must be a total weirdo to wear loose long sleeves and fling
her arms around. So I thought of characters that would wear normal
clothes but have the sleeves hang down from their arms, until I ended up
thinking about ghosts! And so Momoko was born, the inspiration for
Momoko's appearance came from a friend of mine. Before the Suu-Momo core
plots were written I thought of reviving a long dormant manga project
that I called "Tech-Pen Cherry", it had the characters that would fit
the stories for Suu-momo, but it already had a main girl character named Cherry and
she has a bunch of friends and one of them is a guy who has a ghost
following him everywhere. This guy still has no name at that time and the ghost has
no identity yet what so ever, as the plots progressed I ended up pulling
Cherry out of the project, because the plots were better suited for the
guy and the ghost and the whole thing got a major overhaul till I ended
up with Suu-Momo. I know the title sounds kinda off, but that what makes
this project fun to work with, I tried to make a pun of the name "Sumomo"
from the hit anime "Chobits" by CLAMP. I don't have a clue of what to
name the manga project so I just made a pun of a name that I have
thought of at that moment.
