The largest of the Babylon Space Stations, Babylon 4 was designed to be a space station capable of serving in both the diplomatic and military roles. Constructed from the spare parts left over from the three previous Babylon Space Stations, Babylon 4 was equipped with a Jump Engine and enough weapons to defend itself against a full-fledged attack.
Babylon 4 went online in 2254 but was immediately beset by problems. Internal systems were shut down after a massive burst of electro-magnetic radiation from nearby disrupted the station. Shortly thereafter, an intruder answering to the name "Zathras" was found in one of the cargo holds and a minor hull breach was reported on the outer ring. Before the breach could be investigated, however, alarms in the main engineering section began to sound and an overload in the fusion reactors began. Then, without warning, the station dissapeared into a massive rift. Twenty-four hours after going online, Babylon 4 had vanished.
It was not until 2258 that the station reappeared near the location of Babylon 5. A relief crew was immediately sent out following the unusual death of a Starfury pilot who had invesitaged the region. Later, the pilot's death was confirmed to be from old age. The rescue team, led by Commander Sinclair, reached the station and successfully evacuated the crew, though they were forced to abandon the alien intruder when a massive beam fell and pinned him. As the last of the shuttles moved away from Babylon 4, the station once again dissapeared and has not been heard from since.
