The course has a good variety of turns. upon entering the track, there is a left hander at the end of a 1000' straight. this turn can be taken in 3rd gear in my car. you carry the speed to the next pair of turns- which is almost like a hairpin. brake down to 2nd gear into a slight left and imediately into a hard right. power out - 3rd gear, 4th, and immediately on the brakes again for a right, left, and increased radiused right, followed by a short straight and another right. If you do this right, you can be flat out in 3rd gear on the last right of this series. Then hit 4th, (over 100mph here) on a slightly bending left. Keeping it smooth and steady is key here. Then hard on the brakes for a 2nd gear left hander leading to the sweeper. the sweeper is a banked right hander that can be taken toward the top of 3rd gear in my car on street tires. exiting the sweeper onto a short straigh, you hit 4th again and go flat out through the left hand bend up to "magic mountain". Brake down to 3rd gear and go up the hill as you are turning right. the apex is at the top of the hill and the elevation drops again and causes you to drift over the top of the hill, kinda scary at first, but becomes a lot of fun when you get used to it. At the bottom there is another bend to the left, than a staight section and then into a flat right hand sweeper. Immediately exiting the sweeper, you hit the esses (or switchback), shifing to third in the esses, followed by a left hand bend (where I shift again and hit about 110mph) and then a hard 90 degree left onto the front straight where i hit about 110 again before ending up where I started. Whew!
during the 2nd run session, I was coming around the right hand sweeper before the esses and hit the apex a little too early. I was hard on the gas and drifted up onto the rumble strip on the outside of the turn. I dropped both left wheels in the dirt, and as I re-entered the track, my left rear tire hooked the backside of the rumble strip and flicked me sideways. I was in mid-spin and shot across the track and ended up in a cloud of dirt on the other side of the track. Wouldn't ya know it, someone got a picture! Thanks Brandon!
On the 3rd run session, there was a black prelude (Hideki?) that was running pretty hard. I was on his butt for a while, and he let me pass. Then I couldn't shake him, and let him pass me. We switched a couple of times, what a great run. during all this, there was a blue eclipse GSX on some race tires that was charging us pretty hard and got around the two of us (and man, he was fast!), then he spun coming onto the switchback/esses and the prelude and I passed him. Then on the next lap, he passed us both again! Lots of fun.
