The lead to this one comes from a member post, an open invitation posted over at the DisabilityConvention Yahoo! group, one venue originally used to disseminate information about the formation, development of a UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.. The new listserv is called Disaster-Disability for Disabled and other Vulnerable People in Natural Disasters..
Up front know that this group is VERY serious about their business, in particular because it will be a rather short-lived list in the scheme of all things disability advocacy-related.. As introductions are being made, I already recognize numerous individuals, so, again, VERY serious group.. Silliness and personal attacks definitely will not be tolerated there.. ;)
For those interested in both learning and sharing experiences and information concerning PWDs (people with disabilities), international politics, and disaster preparedness, you're very welcome to join.. The group officially gets underway next Monday, 2006-05-22, I believe it is.. Simply address a brand new, completely blank email to:

At this very early point, anyway, they are letting us post a *very short* introduction as soon as we start receiving the first emails subject lined, tagged [Disaster-Disability], that is as long as this occurs before this coming Monday. After that, they are requesting that we all add a one-liner intro to our first input sent to the list during its duration. As with other similarly natured lists, best approach is to read their guidelines for participation, as posted by Marco Nicoli, first..

PS. Speaking of groundbreaking, this post gets to be Technorati's bouncing baby first entry tagged PWDs, internationally even. Furthermore found that even the tag PWD yielded but one, *ONE* international post and a handful of images. Proof is in the print screen(s)..
