Why is it hard to be a board member?

When you do a paying job for living, you have put a lot of time dealing with people who will or won't like the job you do.  I know that baseball board members don't get a dime, but the perks of knowing and maybe control what goes on make it worth it. Many years have gone by with only the faces changing with still the same results.  Horror stories continue with how members ruin it. It just doesn't seem fair how and why this continues. What would you do to make a good board member.

WHY IT IS HARD TO BE A BOARD MEMBER! BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRY TO DO FOR THE KIDS AND LEAGUE , ALOT OF IT'S MEMBERS THINK YOU ARE IN IT FOR YOURSELF , BUT WHY WOULD SOMEONE PUT IN YEARS OF SERVICE 1000'S OF MAN HOURS AND GIVE UP THEIR FAMILY TIME IF THEY WERE'NT TRYING TO HELP OTHER KIDS OUT. I WAS A BOARD MEMBER FOR 6 YEARS WITH VERY LITLLE OR NO APPRICIATION, BUT IT WAS OK BECAUSE WHAT WE DID AS A BOARD WAS FOR THE MAJORITY NOT THE MINORITY (COMPLAINERS WHO YOU COULD'NT MAKE HAPPY IF YOU GAVE THEM A MILLION DOLLARS)SO ALWAYS REMEMBER IT'S FOR THE MAJORITY AND YOU WILL BE JUST FINE>>>>>>>

It seems that when a person does tried to help, somebody ruins it by being mean and puts down the person helping the players. I guess thats the world we live in.

Someone told me that in Valencia near William Hart High school that they have 100 board members in their pony league. I wonder how many fights go on out there.
