Angel's Love
By DragonMage
Treize turned another page in the book he was reading and tried to concentrate but it was so hard. All he could think about was his angel. For the past few days he had been recovering from his bout of sickness and that meant he had stay home while winter played out its worst outside of his house. He went out a few times but he had always been bundled up tightly since he didn't want to catch another cold; it could be his death he was catching.
While looking for something to do, he had came to the library in search of a good book to read that would keep him busy until he was well enough to go out and actually get something done. He had been looking through his large and expensive collection, he spotted a few old family bibles and they immediately reminded him of his angel. How was his angel up in the Heavens? He hadn't seen him since that day he left and Treize ached to know. He wanted to know everything about his angel. His likes, dislikes...his preferences on things, what life was as an angel, literally everything.
He had finally found a book he hadn't read in a long time and tried to read it at the window of his library, but it had been futile with his thoughts so filled with his angel's face, his angel's skin against his own, his angel's lips pressed onto his...Gods, that kissed had plagued him in his dreams and in his thoughts. All he could think about sometimes was how his angel's lips felt against his own. Sweet, soft, silky and so warm and alive. His angel was real! That kiss had proven it! He wasn't some dream...No, he was very, very real.
"Is that interesting?"
Treize started and turned around in his chair to stare into dark, velvet eyes. He blinked and tried not to show he had been startled badly as he smiled slightly, easily collecting back his calm.
"Hello, Angel. I didn't expect you back so soon," he said quietly as his angel walked around the chair and sat down on the ottoman in front of him.
"Ah, well, Heaven got boring," his angel said, waving his hand with a mischievous smile playing on his beautiful lips.
"Boring? How does Heaven get boring?" Treize asked as he closed his book and placed it on the table to his elbow. Talking to his angel was far more interesting than any book in the world. He smiled happily, taking in the beautiful sight his angel made, sitting in front of him in his loose white clothing. There was a slightly golden aura around his angel, but that could have been a trick of the sunlight pouring into the room from the wall to ceiling windows. It was winter but at least there was still some sunlight, even if it didn't help to warm the atmosphere whatsoever.
"Oh, believe me, it can," his angel said with a slightly grimace on his ethereal face. "All they talk about are..." He trailed off and shrugged, dismissing his thought. "Never mind. I wanted to come down here to speak with you."
"About what?" Treize asked. If there had been one thing he had noticed changing about his angel was that he was less of an angel and more...expressive. Almost human. It still held that sweet aura of innocence around him without any doubt but there was also something very human about him at the same time. But he still held Treize in awe, even if the man did feel a little more comfortable with the thought that his angel was still...somewhat on his level of expressing himself.
"How do people--humans--show love?" The boy asked curiously, his velvet eyes soft in thoughtfulness.
Treize tilted his head to the side. "Well, it depends. What kind of love are you talking about?"
"There's a kind?" the boy asked in genuine bafflement. "From what I've seen, it seems to be all the same."
"What have you seen?"
The boy blushed slightly, a beautiful pink color against his golden skin. "Ah, well...I've seen hugging, kissing, and--that's about it. Is there something else to it? Most of the time it's between a man and woman...and a few times I've seen it between two men. I really don't understand human love. It's so different and...confusing." He looked honestly befuddled by human affection.
"Well, you've seen love between two lovers. Have you seen love between two people who are friends or are family?" Treize asked.
"Yes, I have. There's a difference, isn't there? And I'm not seeing it." His tone was rueful as he sat there, his legs crossed in front of him and his head tilted to the side, allowing his dark hair to fall to his face.
"You aren't exactly supposed to be an expert at this. You are only an angel," Treize reminded him.
The boy nodded. "You're right. But sometimes I wish I really did know. To understand humans better is my wish right now. I've had several mortal lifetimes to study them and still I don't understand it."
"Is that why you keep coming back down?" Treize asked. He secretly hoped the reason why the angel always came back down was because he wanted to see him, Treize. But that wish was far too hopeful.
"Part of it," the angel admitted shyly, looking down at the soft carpet with sudden interest.
Treize nodded slowly and didn't ask what the other part was. It was quite obvious that his angel wasn't comfortable with admitting to why he came down to Earth so often. Although it would have been nice to know--or at least confirm some hopeful guesses.
The angel stared at the man across from him and tried to understand the love inside of his heart. He had never experienced love like this before and it scared him. Why? Because this was human love that was dangerously filled with desire, want and all sorts of other confusing emotions that weren't meant for an angel yet they were there. He had never expected himself to react to Treize like this, but it was much too late, wasn't it? What was he going to do? Was he going to throw away everything...? Maybe. Possibly. He might just do that...
<No! I can't.. I can't!> he thought frantically as he realized just *where* his train of thought was leading. <It's against the rules! I can't do that. Just entertaining the thoughts would mean punishment! What if I actually went through with it? I'll be cast away forever!> But as much as those consequences scared him, he still wanted Treize in such a human way. Had he been seduced? Was that possible? If he was so enamored like this seduction was the only reason behind it--right? <Oh no, I fell for him and it had nothing to do with seduction. He has never touched me or said anything to make me uncomfortable like those people I've seen being seduced from Heaven. What have I done? Falling for a human! Oh no, this isn't right. Not at all!>
"Angel? Is something wrong?" Treize asked, suddenly worried as he watched the conflicting emotions expressed on the ethereal creature's face.
The boy looked up, obviously startled out of his thoughts. "Wrong? I...I don't know."
"Is there anything I can do to make it better?" Treize asked, his eyes full of compassion and warmth that melted the angel to his very celestial bones.
<I am his,> the angel realized as he stared at the loving face of the human he cared for so very, very deeply. <Is it wrong? Is it wrong to love a human, a human *man*? Oh, what is happening to me?>
"Treize..."
"Yes?"
Taking a deep breath, the boy decided to throw everything into the stars and risk his whole world for this man, for at least one night with him. That was all he asked for. The love inside of him was aching, begging to be filled with the warmth of this man.
"Will you...will you kiss me? Will you love me?" the boy asked his voice barely audible yet his request was heard clearly in Treize's ears.
"Are you sure?" Treize asked, barely believing what his ears told him what was true. His angel was asking him to love him! That was beyond any of Treize's wildest dreams. Yes, they had hugged, yes they had kissed briefly, but love? Oh, that was too intimate, much too much for an angel. But he had asked, and Treize was more than happy to comply. But he had to make sure this wasn't something he was going to regret. He didn't want his angel to regret anything that might happen between them. He loved him so much, he would do just about anything for him. Anything in his power!
"I think so," his angel answered honestly. "I...I love you, Treize and I want you to love me. Is that wrong?" His dark eyes were so vulnerable and full of innocent confusion. Treize's heart ached and warmed for his dearest angel love.
"No, Angel, it's not wrong," Treize said, shaking his head. "But you have to be sure you want this. Do you want? Are you sure you're willing to do this?"
"I'm very sure," his angel answered, his voice full of wonder and truth. "But I'm not sure if it's right."
"I can't tell you what's right or not. That is your definition of the word," Treize admitted. "I won't love you till you're utterly sure that you're ready for this and you won't regret it."
His angel nodded slowly, the dark dreamy eyes full of thought as he stood up slowly and shook his clothes. He looked at Treize with a small smile on his serene face. "I'm going to go now and think about what you've said. I'll be back tomorrow." He then step forward and bent down to press a chaste kiss on Treize's cheek before disappearing.
Treize closed his eyes and touched his cheek. He knew he had done the right thing but he had been so close to just accepting without questioning. A very risky thing, especially since he wanted to keep his angel and not frighten him off or upset him in anyway. <Patience, Treize. Wait for him and see what happens.> With that set in his mind, Treize went upstairs to bed. He couldn't concentrate on his book even if he wanted to. Besides, if he slept now tomorrow would only be closer.

"Foolish, foolish, foolish," the boy muttered to himself as he paced in Treize's frozen garden. He stopped in front of a dead rose bush and sighed heavily. He wished spring would come and all of the roses would bloom. He could already imagine the color blushing from each silky petal and the heavy fragrance given off when the air was warm and soothing. <Ah, I need that right now. I need to relax my mind. I couldn't go back to Heaven that was for sure! Everyone would bother and harass me. It's safer to stay down here yet out of Treize's sight.>
<Ah, what *am* I going to do??> the boy thought as he fell on to a cold, marble bench and pulled his lithe legs underneath his chin, wrapping his arms around his legs. He sat there, pouting like a confused and put out child as he tried to sort through his predicament. <I want him, yet I'm so scared to defy the most important rule among angels! We must never fall in love with a human and we must never lie with them under any circumstances. Whether or not it was seduction, I've fallen for Treize and I want him so badly.>
<And he meant so well. He didn't even try to touch me unless I was completely positive in every way of my decision.> The torn angel buried his head in his arms and sighed heavily. He loved Treize so much and he wanted to be loved in return. Love was such a strange yet wonderful feeling and he wanted it for himself, never mind that it was against the rules. <So, I'll do it? Will I break the such a rule?>
Yes. He would. Who cared about consequences? As long as he had Treize for at least *one* night, he was content.
Lifting his head, the boy looked up at the window of Treize's room and smiled. It might be against the rules but what he was going to do felt so right, so perfect. He unfolded his legs and slipped off the bench. He took a few steps forward and disappeared.
~*~
The boy reappeared in Treize's room. He looked around the empty room and wondered where the man had disappeared off. He had sworn Treize was in the room a moment ago...
"Well, good evening, Angel," a smooth, rich tenor greeted behind him.
The angel turned around and he broke into a smile. His eyes lit up and he walked forward until he was nearly touching Treize.
"Good evening, Treize," he said softly, reaching up with small hands to trace Treize's face. "How are you?"
"I am well. And you?" Treize tried not to shiver at the cool touch of his angel's fingers against his skin. It was so hard not to reach out and touch him back, but he controlled himself and kept his hands to himself.
"I thought about everything you said," his angel said thoughtfully as he pulled away and took a few steps back. He turned around and wrapped his arms around his body. "It wasn't easy, that is for sure."
Treize wisely remained silent.
"But..." His angel turned around, his head tilted to one side with a somewhat dreamy expression on his face. "I do want this and I want it with you. Do you understand?"
"Yes," Treize said softly, nodding.
"I do love you, you know," his angel said with all honesty.
"I love you as well, Angel. I believe I've loved you since the first moment I pulled you out of the river," Treize whispered as he stepped forward and took his angel's hands into his own. "So, you're positive about this?"
"Absolutely," his angel breathed. "Teach me how to love, Treize. I want to learn."
~*~
The boy lay contently in his lover's arms as he listened to Treize's even breathing and the steady beating of his heart. Oh, how he loved this man beside him. His heart swelled and soared with the pure, unadulterated love for Treize. He snuggled closer to Treize and closed his eyes, sighing happily. He had never been so fulfilled and content before and it was an absolutely beautiful feeling.
<I love him, I love him, I love him,> he thought ecstatically. He wished this happiness could last forever but he knew that God was going to find out about his sin and he was going to be punished. He suddenly felt some of his happiness drain away. Had he done a selfish thing? Had he done something wrong by given Treize something that could only be one night without telling him? His closed eyes suddenly stung with tears as he realized that. <Oh, Treize. I am so sorry...> He swallowed painfully and clung tighter to Treize, hoping if he just held on tight enough they wouldn't be separated. But it was a stupid and foolish thought. He would be dragged to Heaven sooner or later and be punished for his sin.
"Angel? What's wrong?" Treize had sensed his love's sorrow--how he had no idea--and woke up from his peaceful slumber. He turned around and faced his angel. His angel was crying. He reached out and gently brushed away the tears falling from closed eyes, his heart full of pain for the sadness he saw on his angel's face. His angel was not allowed to be sad. He was supposed to always be happy. "Angel, what's wrong? Please tell me."
"I..." His angel swallowed painfully and continued to cry silently. "I'm so sorry, Treize. I've done such a bad thing..."
Treize felt fear and guilt grip his heart as he heard his angel's words come out through the silent sobs. "You regret this?"
"No, never!" his angel whispered with deep conviction. He opened his eyes and touched Treize's cheek with his small hand. "I don't regret any of that. It's just that..." He trailed off and took a deep breath. "I can't stay."
"What? What do you mean you can't stay?" Panic and fear now gripped him as he reached out and pulled his angel close. "What are you talking about?"
The boy swallowed his tears, knowing he had to tell Treize the truth and Treize might be furious at him for it. "You see, it's against the rules of God for an angel to love a human." He could feel Treize tense at the realization but he wasn't finished. He reached up and pressed his fingers to Treize's lips to silence any words that were about to come forth. "It is also against the rules for an angel to lie with a human. As you can see, I've broken both of the most important rules among angels. I will be taken back to Heaven and I'll be punished. I might never see you ever again. I'm so sorry I can't give you anymore than this one day, Treize. I am so sorry I didn't tell you the truth." He buried his face in Treize's chest and sobbed. "I am so sorry..."
"You risked everything for this...?" Treize asked in a daze.
"I'm sorry..."
"Angel, you shouldn't have done that! You shouldn't have!" Treize now feared for his angel. What would God do to him? Treize didn't know God so he had no idea and he feared for his angel, for any punishment that might be laid on him. "Why? Why did you risk everything like that?"
"Because I love you," came the small voice.
"My beautiful, foolish little angel. I am so afraid for you," Treize whispered in his angel's hair as he held him tight. "What do you think will happen to you?"
"I have no idea. This has never happened before," his angel whispered through his tears. "I don't think anyone knows but Him."
Treize took a deep breath and struggled to calm the dread inside of him. "When will you face punishment?" <And can I be there when it does happen?>
"I don't know. Tomorrow morning? Right now? I have no idea." The boy lifted his head and stared up at Treize with tear filled eyes. "Do you hate me?"
"No! I love you too much to hate you for doing this. Although, I can't believe you never told me..."
"It was already too late. I already fell in love with you, I already broke on rule. What was another?"
Treize nodded sadly and wiped away at his angel's tears. He pulled him close and kissed him deeply, hoping to lift some of his angel's sadness even as he could barely lift his own. "We'll see what happens."
"I don't want to leave you, Treize..."
"Then don't. Stay here."
"You know I can't do that."
"We can always wish..."
The boy breathed in Treize's sweet scent and fell against him. "Let's go to sleep, Treize. I am tired. We'll see what happens in the morning."
"I love you, Angel."
"I love you, Treize."
~*~
When Treize woke up the next morning, his angel was gone...
~*~
The boy stood before the council of angels and waited for Him to appear to lay judgement on him. The boy had decided, when he had been taken away against his will earlier that morning, that he was going to fight and argue for his right to love a human. He saw nothing wrong in loving a human being, he saw nothing wrong with love overall! Why couldn't God understand it?
The angels glared at him and showed their scorn for him in their silence. He found it oppressive and ignored it. He was going to be strong and not break, no matter how much he wanted to throw himself at the mercy of His Lord, he wasn't. He would fight for his right to love for it was such a beautiful thing.
Suddenly, the whole room filled with a bright light and music played to an almost unbearable level--for humans. To the angels it was pure, beautiful music that made some of them cry for their love of the Lord. He was perfect in every way and they all loved Him with all their hearts and to them, such a rebellion the boy showed was wrong and they demanded judgement and punishment.
Then He appeared.
The boy knelt down on his knees to receive him. He gathered all his courage and love for Treize and prepared to duke it out with the Creator of All.
"What have you done, my dear child?" He asked, anger tinged in his voice. "How can you have sinned as you did with that human?"
"Because I love him!" the boy replied honestly, his heart speaking for him. There was a collective outburst among the angels as they heard this proclamation.
"You know that is against the rules! You knew and you went against my wishes! What defense do you have against this?" He demanded.
"I have no defense except that I loved him and he loved me in return! How can you say such a union is wrong, My Lord? How can you see such a beautiful thing in such a light?" The boy demanded himself. "Love is such a precious thing!"
"Yes, it is a precious thing! But love between an angel and a human being is not right! You are not of the same! You are both different, made different. They are animals with souls on Earth while you are one of my first children! You are an angel! You're both different beings and there is no excuse for what you've done," He said, shaking his head.
"For loving? There is no excuse for love?" the boy asked, looking incredibly sad. "You love, My Lord. Don't you understand? Don't you love your creations? Or do you just make them and leave them to their own devices without caring for them? Why do they suffer, Lord? Why must they deal with death? With pain? Why can't they be as happy as we are?"
"You dare question my work? My purpose?"
"I have questions you for a very long time, My Lord! Your purpose makes no sense! If you had any compassion--"
"Don't you dare question me! What I do and how I do it is MY business!" His face saddened. "You are my child yet you don't trust me. Why?"
"I have seen things that you turn a blind eye to," the boy said, lifting his chin. "I have felt things you do not feel. I know what I see, I know what I feel and it is nothing like your purpose. That is why, Lord, I don't trust me. Never doubt my love for you! But I can't see things from your point of view." He paused. "You gave us free will, I only exercised it further than everyone else and what I've seen and felt has caused me to know that your purpose isn't perfect. It is flawed!"
"Have you learned nothing?"
"I have learned, My Lord! It is you who must open Your eyes and Your ears and learn!"
"You accuse me of being ignorant??"
"Yes, I am!"
"Your punishment, my angel, are to never see your human lover ever again as an angel!" He shouted, his voice booming over the cries of the angels around them. He stared down at the boy, his serene face filled with anger and sorrow for the defiant creature before him. "You are banished from Heaven until you have learned! Until you have realized what my purpose truly is!" Then He disappeared and with Him went the angels. The boy was left alone, kneeling there in the bright lights of the empty room.
<I have lost him forever,> the boy thought sorrowfully. He buried his face in his hands and sobbed. <I will never see him again. I am so sorry, Treize! I love you! Good-bye...> And then darkness enclosed on him.
