Chapter 5
The Battle Against Mother Earth Begins
In California, America....
"Moon Shield Protection!" Eternal Sailor Moon screamed her newest attack as a beam of white and yellow energy shot out from her Eternal Moon Tier Staff and formed a great shield, stopping the large house from collapsing into itself. Mentally she screamed to all the people inside the home to get out of the house. She didn't have enough energy to hold it up for long. She watched with relief as the occupants of the beautiful home started running out into safety.
She had gained a lot of new power since the battle began about two days ago. She and the other scouts and Tuxedo Mask had been teleporting all over the world to where ever there was a crisis that had to be taken care of that showed up on Sailor Mercury's computer. They were all tired but they didn't stop for anything except to eat or rest for a brief moment when the world wasn't breaking apart under them.
When she was sure everyone was out, Sailor Moon stopped her shield and leaped out of the way as she watched the building collapsed with a great noise. Everything, glass, wood and metal was sent flying but no one was really injured.
"Thank you," a mother sobbed as she stumbled over to Sailor Moon. "You've saved my whole family. Thank you."
Sailor Moon smiled and nodded. "It's all right. Just try and found a safe place to stay in. I've got to go know." Then Sailor Moon turned and quickly teleported out of California.
In Cuba....
Sailor Mercury and Sailor Uranus screamed as they were thrown back by the horrible tornado that had been blowing through Cuba. They had been fighting the storm for the longest but still it wouldn't let up. Many people had been killed but they had managed to save many lives as well.
"This is not going to work," Sailor Mercury shouted over the horrible noise. She wished desperately for Eternal Sailor Moon to appear. She would have enough energy to face off with hurricane and stop it. "We've got to find another way to stop all of this."
"Hit the eye!" Sailor Uranus shouted. "Remember, you hit the center of the tornado and maybe it'll stop it all."
"But that's almost impossible, Sailor Uranus!"
"Nothing's impossible!"
"Right!" Sailor Mercury struggled to her feet and steeled herself. She raised her arms, "Mercury Ice Fire, Vortex!" She whirled around quickly and held a ball of fire and ice in her hands. She held it close to her body as she concentrated the power for a blow that would stop the tornado. Or at least try. Then she screamed with the effort of it as she shot it forward, straight for the relentless tornado. It flew quickly, cutting against the tornado's winds.
"World Shaking!" Sailor Uranus picked up a ball of power and raised her arm. Yellow energy gathered around her hand and enveloped it easily. A yellow ringed planet shape appeared. Then she shook it slightly and bent down as she slammed the energy into the earth. It ripped through the dirt as it met up with Sailor Mercury's Ice Fire ball. They mixed together and slammed right into the center of the tornado.
There was bright flash and a huge explosion as power and the tornado met. Sailor Mercury and Sailor Uranus experienced de`ja vu again as they were thrown back into several trees as tornado and power fought. Then, suddenly, the tornado slowly died out and stopped. The winds stilled and everything became quiet.
Sailor Mercury winced in pain as she struggled to sit up. Her back was hurting from being thrown back so many times. She reached back and gingerly touched a growing bump at the back of her head. She knew that her super human powers would heal that in hours so she didn't worry about it.
"See, we did it," Sailor Uranus said triumphantly. "I told you we could do it."
"Of course," Sailor Mercury agreed, smiling. "That was hard though. I think I would have gotten plenty of concussions if it weren't for our Sailor powers."
"Yeah," Sailor Uranus agreed. She stood up easily and dusted herself off. She didn't look hurt at all. "I wonder how Sailor Neptune is doing with Sailor Venus."
"I hope they did better than us," Sailor Mercury sighed as she tiredly leaned back against the tree trunk. Then she winced as it touched her bump.
In Northern Africa....
"This fire is horrible!" Sailor Venus coughed as the smoke reached her and choked her. She looked at the burning Sahara and coughed even harder. She already had somewhat weak lungs from dealing with all the pollution in England, now she had to deal with a fire in Africa.
"Yes, it is," Sailor Neptune agreed. "We've tried everything and still it hasn't went out."
"I wish Sailor Mercury was here. Her ice bubbles would do a lot of help."
"Of course. But she and Sailor Uranus had to deal with that hurricane in Cuba."
"What do we do?"
Sailor Neptune looked thoughtful for a moment. Then she ended up coughing very hard again. She dropped down to one knee and continued to couch horribly. It racked her body and dropped down to both knees and hands.
"Nerissa," Sailor Venus coughed. She bent down beside the older girl and pounded her back. She stood up and whirled around. "Venus Love Wind, blow!" She held out her arms on both sides like a cross and then brought her hands together. She opened her palms and watched as heart shaped winds shot out her hands and blew the smoke away from them. She walked around in a circle slowly as she fought off all the smoke that was hurting Sailor Neptune. She wasn't used to it while Sailor Venus was.
When most of the smoke had been fanned away, Sailor Neptune began to breathe normally again and stood up.
"Thanks," she whispered hoarsely.
"What are friends, for?" Sailor Venus smiled. Then it faded. "We've got to deal with this fire."
"Let me try my Deep Submerge again," Sailor Neptune suggested. She closed her eyes and concentrated as she called for her power. She raised her arms as a planet appeared between her hands and waves shot up beside her. She lowered her arms and shot the power out as it drenched the fires again. But the fire just rose higher and roared even louder as it continued to burn.
"It didn't work," Sailor Venus whispered in despair.
"What about a little team work?" Sailor Neptune said.
"How? My love power won't work against fire."
"Weave your chains together, Venus."
Sailor Venus looked at Sailor Neptune with a blank expression. Then she realized what Sailor Neptune wanted her to do. "Of course." She smiled. "Good idea." She held up her right hand with her palm open. "Venus Love Chain, weave!" Suddenly chain after chain after chain shot out of her hand and weaved together at an amazing speed. Then Sailor Venus used what almost felt like the last of her strength and sent the blanket of Love Chains over the Sahara, covering it, smothering the flames.
"Deep Submerge!" Sailor Neptune screamed again. Water shot forward and drenched the smothered flames.
Slowly, the more quickly, the water washed over the flames that were being smoothed by the Love Chains. Oxygen had been cut off from the flames and the water was doing its work. Then, amazingly, the flames began to disappear as the magic worked over the burnt land.
"It worked!" Sailor Venus shouted happily.
"It did, didn't it?" Sailor Neptune said excitedly. She laughed and hugged Sailor Venus excitedly as they watched the flames being washed away and the land stopped burning. But then what was left stopped their laughter and excitement. All of the land was black and sizzling and there were dead carcasses of the animals who were caught in the horrible fire. It was tragic. Even if they did stop the flames, it didn't stop the death that surrounded them.
"This is horrible," Sailor Neptune whispered with tears in her sea green eyes.
Sailor Venus swallowed hard and wiped away tears. "Come on, we've done our best. Let's go and meet up with the others."
Sailor Neptune nodded in agreement. "Your right. We knew this would happen when we started fighting."
Then held hands and concentrated as they teleported.
In India....
"Look at this," Sailor Mars said in disgust as she watched the filthy river filled with toxic waste and other disgusting things run by her and Sailor Jupiter. "I can't believe they actually allowed this to happen."
"It's horrible," Sailor Jupiter agreed. "This place smells, too." She held her nose as they stood many yards away from the filthy river.
"Well, how do we stop toxic stuff like this from getting into the main water source?"
"I think it already is."
"Then let's build a damn where it isn't so bad and leave it at that," Sailor Mars suggested.
"Good idea," Sailor Jupiter agreed. They teleported to the end of the filthy river and watched as it started washing into the more cleaner water.
"Jupiter Vine Wall!" Sailor Jupiter raised vines up from the ground and concentrated hard as she build up a strong dam to stop the flow of filthy water. Slowly it grew higher and thicker as Sailor Jupiter worked. Then it was done. The dam was finished and the filthy water stopped flowing into the clean water.
"But what do we do about the water that has already been contaminated?" Sailor Jupiter asked, a bit weakly since she was tired from working. They all had created new powers for themselves by using the power they already had but differently. It was hard work.
"Well..." Sailor Mars looked at the water and frowned. She held out her finger and shouted, "Mars Purifying Fire, burn!" A spiral of fire shot out from her finger and burned the water. It entered through the water and everything became a bright red as the magical fire worked itself and burned away all the toxic waste and filth that had mixed with the water.
Then Sailor Mars raised her finger and it stopped. "There. I think that should do the trick."
"Good work," Sailor Jupiter complimented. She sighed and her shoulders sagged. "I'm just too old for this. I'm 21-years-old and fighting to save the future. Why couldn't they get younger people."
"I'm 21 as well and I have to deal with it as well," Sailor Mars retorted in her usual fiery-like manner.
"Come on, let's go and see if the other scouts need our help," Sailor Jupiter suggested.
"Yeah. I bet there's a lot more trouble out there that we have to take care of," Sailor Mars agreed. They held hands and teleported.
In Northern Africa....
Sailor Saturn sighed with exhaustion as she wrapped a bandage around the injured man's arm. There had been a horrible fire in the Sahara that both Sailor Venus and Sailor Neptune had put out but it didn't stop the casualties in the terrible fire. Sailor Saturn, with the help of Sailor Pluto, had teleported to Africa after doing a bit of healing in England to help out with the injured and sick. That was the least she could do since she really wasn't all that good in an all out battle with a hurricane or fire. Her powers weren't exactly useful since it was always really considered the 'last resort'. They were far too dangerous to be used in stopping something. She might end up making it worse and she didn't want to do that.
She hadn't been sleeping for a while and was tired but she had to stay awake and help out at the hospital.
"Miss Saturn, you should rest. You've been working so long. You need your rest," a nurse said gently.
Sailor Saturn finished wrapping the bandage and made sure that the man would heal nicely before standing up and facing the nurse who had spoken to her.
"It's all right. I want to help out," Sailor Saturn said softly, shaking her head. "My friends are out saving the world. I can at least save some lives."
"But you've worked all day. You have to get some rest."
"Not until everyone is all right," Sailor Saturn said stubbornly. She leaned heavily against her Silence Glaive and walked over to the next patient and began to heal her and bandage her wounds.
"But, Miss Saturn," the nurse protested. "You won't be any good if you pass our on us."
"She's right, Sailor Saturn." Eternal Sailor Moon appeared beside the nurse who gave a scream of fright and leaped back into another nurse. That nurse glared at the screaming nurse and pushed her away.
Sailor Moon caught the young, falling nurse and straightened her up. She laughed as she apologized. "I didn't mean to startle you."
"That's all right," the nurse said nervously. "And you are...?"
"Eternal Sailor Moon," Sailor Moon said formally. "I see you've already met Sailor Saturn. She's a dear friend of mine."
"I've heard of you. From Tokyo, right? You the super heroine everyone admires," the nurse said with a wistful tone.
"Yes, I suppose I am," Sailor Moon said, shrugging. "But I'm just a regular person."
"Right," the nurse said. She held out her hand. "I'm Rachel Winds."
"You already know who I am," Sailor Moon said, shaking the woman's hand. She turned to Sailor Saturn who had just finished treating the woman's wounds. "You need to rest, Sailor Saturn. I can take over from here. Or Sailor Mercury. I don't think she has anything to do after stopping that hurricane in Cuba."
"But, Sailor Moon, I want to help," Sailor Saturn protested.
"I know, Sailor Saturn." Sailor Moon reached out and easily lifted the small girl to her feet. "But I don't want you out action because you exhausted yourself by no sleeping or eating. Go get some rest and some food. I have the healing power too, don't I? I can help out here. Nothing's really happening right now so I have the time."
"Where's Tuxedo Mask?" Sailor Saturn asked, remembering that the handsome man had the power to heal as well.
"He's in Germany helping all those who were caught in the earthquake Sailor Mercury was caught in a week ago," Sailor Moon replied.
"Oh. Okay. I'll get some rest," Sailor Saturn said, nodding. She turned and walked over to an empty bed and fell asleep immediately after her head touched the pillow.
Sailor Moon walked over to the girl and pulled up the blankets to keep her warm.
"She's a sweet girl," Rachel said.
Sailor Moon smiled and nodded. "She is."
"Sailor Moon, do you know what's going on? There's been the worst happening since that earthquake in Germany. Is there something more horrible about to happen?"
"Don't worry too much about it, Rachel. I promise you, I will keep this Earth together, even if it kills me," Sailor Moon said seriously. She reached out and touched the young woman on the arm. "Go and rest yourself. I can help out here without much instructions. I worked in a hospital when I was a teenager. I can do this, trust me."
"I do," Rachel said softly. She smiled.
Sailor Moon blinked and giggled nervously.
