Wo Ai Ni, Yong Yuan

Notes: Well, I was hypnotised by Novea and then tackled by R'oko so I'm gonna write a sequel to 'Gray Mornings'. *bows* I don't know though, it wasn't even good. It was just a tension, emotion, stress, etc. releaser actually.
Origins of the title 'Gray Mornings': I wrote this when one day in Cali the skies were gray and the air was foggy and it was right after some shit I had to deal with lately so I thought it was pretty symbolic, ne? Plus, most of the time bad stuff happens on a cloudy-ish day. If not, then, damn the gods are playing with us!

Chapter 1
Six Years Later...
Chang Wufei sighed as he brushed away some strands of hair from his face and glared at his computer screen. He had just gotten an email from his company that he was to meet some client from America about some computer software that had just came in. Again, they were sending him from his home in China allll the way to America JUST because he spoke English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and a bit of Spanish. Why couldn't they find ANOTHER bilingual person to do these transactions? He was very, very busy lately and he just wouldn't put off the wedding any longer. Meiren was starting to get impatient although, thank the gods, she wasn't going to leave him at all. Besides, they were only 21 and that was still pretty young. He loved Meiren with all his heart. She was such a wonderful fiancée.
Sighing, Wufei wrote back saying he'll take the job. He had to. He needed to pay for the HUGE wedding that was gonna take place sooner or later. Meiren's family was huge and so was his own so they were going to have to accommodate a lot of people, including friends and guests. This wedding was going to be very, very pricy. But very worth it as well. He and Meiren were finally going to get married!
The phone rang and Wufei hoped it was Meiren. He wanted someone to take him out of his bum feeling right now.
"Hello?"
"Chang, you got the email by now I presume," a deep voice said over the line.
"Yes, I got it. What I don't get is why you have to give me this when it's almost my wedding day. Or at least I hoped my wedding day is going to come soon seeing that I keep getting side tracked. Meiren isn't getting any happier, Ming![1]" Wufei sighed.
"Hey! I don't pick whom goes. The other guys are out on their own assignments," Ming said defensively.
"I have half a mind to just take a quick leave so I can take care of my wedding," Wufei sighed.
"Then why don't you?"
" 'Cause I'm a glutton for punishment," Wufei laughed.
Ming laughed as well. "Well, I'm emailing you the information right now. You're secretary has all the other stuff waiting for you at the office tomorrow."
"Thanks, Ming," Wufei said dryly.
"Zai jian![2]"
"He's too goddamn cheerful," Wufei muttered as he placed the receiver down and opened up his email. Then he quickly printed everything out and carried it over to his couch. He spread everything on the coffee table and sipped his hot tea.
As he took another sip of tea Wufei saw a name that caused him to choke. He coughed as he placed his teacup down and picked up the paper and stared at it.
Client: Duo Maxwell
"No, no way," Wufei whispered over and over as he read the report over and over until he was positive that a Duo Maxwell part of Gateway Inc. was going to meet with him in Los Angeles about some computer software his company wanted to buy.
Duo...
Wufei closed his eyes and dropped the paper from his numb fingers. <No, this CANNOT be happening. Not when everything is okay in my life, finally.> He stood up suddenly and reached for the phone and quickly called Ming back.
"Wei?[3]"
"I can't take the job," Wufei said flatly. He stood there, staring out of the window while battling the sudden pain and anguish churning inside of him as he thought about his former love.
"What? Why not?"
"I just can't. Give it to someone else," Wufei said insistently.
Ming sighed over the line. "I can't. There's no one else to take the job. Sorry, Fei."
"We have a company of six odd thousand of people and you CAN'T find a replacement?" Wufei demanded as he stamped his foot. He couldn't take the job! Not if he wanted to risk all that was right and good in his life. Even if it did mean seeing Duo again...
"Not one that speaks English as good as you do. This deal is really important and we can't blow it. Sorry, Fei, but you're the only one for this job," Ming said regretfully. "Why don't you want it? It's easy, basic procedures."
"I just don't, Ming. Zai jian," Wufei said flatly as he slammed the phone down angrily. He ran his fingers through his loose black hair and glanced back down at the innocent papers layin scattered on his coffee table. <I guess I can't get out of this. I'm gonna have to go to America and see Duo again.> Then he sat back down and read through the report again while part of him was happy and excited that he was going to finally see his former love again in six years.
//Flashback//
"I don't want you to go, Wufei. Stay! My parent's can become your guardians and we can stay together," Duo whispered as he watched Wufei slowly pack. "Don't leave."
Wufei looked up at his boyfriend, sadness etched in his face. Didn't Duo understand that he couldn't do anything? He was Chinese, his mother wouldn't tolerate such a thing as staying in America and not obeying her wishes by going back to China. He had to listen to his mom. He was Chinese.
"I'm sorry, Duo, but I can't," he said, shaking his head. He walked over to Duo and wrapped his arms around his boyfriend and held him tightly. "I'm so sorry. I wish I could. I wish I could stay forever and love you forever. But I can't. I have to go. My mom won't leave me behind. I've already begged, pleaded and cried to stay but she won't allow it. I'm only a minor, I can't do anything I wish without the consent of my parents."
"Why won't you stay with your dad? He's staying in America," Duo whispered hopefully although they had been through his arguement ever since Wufei told him that he was leaving for China, and each time it was the same answer. "My father doesn't want to have anything with me," Wufei whispered painfully. He had already asked and begged his father but his father didn't want to have a 'brat of a son' with him.
"This isn't fair! I love you! You *can't* leave!" Duo shouted angrily as he gripped Wufei's body tight againt his own as if he was going to hold him forever and never let him leave. Never let him go to China and disappear forever. As if he could really fight against the cruelity of the Fates and what they had done to him and his love.
"I love you too, Duo, always and forever," Wufei promised through his tears.

"Why do they keep doing this? I swear, one more time and you quit, scholar," Ron Meiren sighed as she wrapped her arms around her fiancé's neck and kissed him gently on the lips.
"I'm sorry, Mei-Mei, but I have to. They can't find anyone else to do it," Wufei said, shaking his head as he slipped his arms around Meiren's slim waist and held her close. He loved her so much, but as much as he hated to admit it sometimes he couldn't love her as much as he wanted to love her. As much as she deserved it. His heart always had a place that was already filled and Meiren's love could never touch.
"Ah, why did I have to fall in love with someone who's always busy? My mother said this might be a bad thing," Meiren pouted.
Wufei laughed and pressed his forehead against Meiren's. "Not bad at all. Once we marry I'll make sure that I don't work as much as before and spend all my time with you."
"Swear?"
"Swear."
"Good." Meiren smiled and laid her head on Wufei's shoulder. "I love you. And our wedding is six months away! I don't know if I can wait any longer."
"No more. I'm spending two weeks in America. Then I come back and we start the wedding preparations," Wufei promised.
"Good!" Meiren laughed and kissed Wufei one last time. "You have a plane to catch now, scholar. Zai jian."
Wufei nodded and kissed Meiren deeply before he reluctantly pulled away and boarded the plane.
Meiren stood there for a moment and watched as the plane took off a few minutes later. She pressed her hand to the glass and sighed. <I love you, Wufei. Come back to me safely, love.> Then she turned and left.

Duo Maxwell stretched tiredly as he fell out of bed and stumbled into his bathroom. He looked in the mirror and grimaced at the sight he made. His hair was a mess and he was sure there were bags underneath his eyes. He leaned in closer and sighed. He hadn't been able to sleep at all last night. Or at least not until he received word from the Guys at the Top that he was gonna meet a man from China about some software that his company wanted to buy. They always did business with China so that was usual. What was unusual was WHO he was gonna meet with.
Chang Wufei.
The name itself brought on a war of emotions that almost drove him crazy last night in bed. Chang Wufei. The first and only person he had ever loved in his entire life. The love who had left for China six years ago and leaving his life forever in the process. His heart beated faster and harder at the thought of seeing Wufei again. His Wufei. He felt angry and excited at the same time. Why didn't Wufei ever write? Why did he just cut off all communication? Didn't they love each other?
Turning on the faucet, Duo splashed his face and wiped it dry with a dry washcloth. Then he began the daily ritual of brushing and braiding his hair neatly before he took a shower, then brushed his teeth till they were sparkling. He changed into a black shirt with black slacks and some black boots. Sure, he never really dressed professionally, but that was how he was.
Taking another look in the bathroom mirror, Duo was ready for work and another day in LA. In two days he was gonna see Wufei again. He couldn't wait.
