Valentine Seduction

"No! The sound is wrong," Duo exclaimed the for the hundredth time as the listened to the band have their sound check.
"Are you sure?" the band leader asked, frowning.
"Yes, it's coming off awkwardly. It's not coming out into the audience, rather the other way around," Duo said, nodding. He was about to make some suggestions when his cell phone rang. "Hello?"
"Maxwell."
"Yuy?"
"Hn. We need to talk."
"Why? What happened?"
"Nothing. I just want to talk."
Duo became a little wary. "Are you sure you aren't just inviting me out to some secluded place so you can have my head?"
"No. I promised, remember?"
"I also remember you promising to break that promise if I made a false move," Duo said dryly.
"Look, do you want another chance with Wufei or not?" Heero demanded, irritated.
"Of course," Duo said softly.
"Then meet up with me at your club and we'll see what we can do."

Duo snapped his cell closed and frowned slightly. But then he smiled almost hopefully. Maybe, with Heero's help, everything would turn for the better. He wondered what Heero had in mind.
~*~
"Where are you going?" Wufei asked as he watched Heero struggle to pull on his pants. He had offered to help but the Japanese man had been determined to pull on his own pants so Wufei just stood back and watched in amusement.
"Somewhere," Heero grunted as he tugged gently at his pant leg of his jeans. He was half way there when he pulled too hard and it came over his ankle a bit roughly. He hissed in pain and cursed softly before standing up and pulling the pants on the rest of the way.
"Obviously. But where?" Wufei walked over to Heero and offered his shoulder. Heero smiled and braced himself as he straightened out his pants and zipped it up.
"Look, Wufei, just stay home today or go to work. Don't think about it anymore," Heero said as he pulled on his shoes and walked over to the drawer and picked up his brush.
"Think about what? Where *are* you going?" Wufei demanded, scowling. "What's with all this secrecy?"
"I'm meeting with someone. Happy?" Heero asked as he pulled his brush through his hair one last time before running his fingers through it and messing it all up over again.
"Really? Is it Relena?" Wufei asked, grinning mischeviously.
"Glad to see you in good spirits," Heero remarked dryly. "And no, I'm not meeting Relena. Besides, I don't swing that way. Remember?"
"How can I forget? You were the one who helped me realize that I'm not straight," Wufei said, rolling his eyes as he walked over to Heero's bed and sat down on it. "So, who are you meeting?"
"You know, you didn't ask these many questions when Treize dumped you," Heero said, exasperated. He was already very nervous about meeting up with Duo behind Wufei's back. With all these questions he wasn't sure if he could keep his mouth shut long enough so it didn't slip from him. Wufei had this annoying knack for getting information from him when he allowed the Chinese man to bug him enough.
"Hey," Wufei protested as hurt flashed across his dark eyes.
Heero sighed and walked over to Wufei. He sat down beside his friend and pulled him into a hug. He rested his chin on Wufei's head and breathed in the fresh scent that belonged only to Wufei.
"Look, everything will be okay. Trust me. You just...gotta learn to open up your heart," he said softly.
"Open up my heart? Sounds like surgery to me," Wufei snorted as he closed his eyes and breathed in Heero's musky scent. He smiled faintly. This was Heero, his best friend in the whole world who he knew he could always lean on when he needed the support.
"Stop being a smart ass," Heero remarked as he pulled away and looked Wufei in the eye. "Don't worry. I'm always right."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Fine. I'll be at work if you need me," Wufei said, standing up.
"Good."
"Do you think you can drive with a bum ankle?"
"I'll be fine," Heero said, nodding.
"All right. See you later tonight, Heero," Wufei said, waving as he left the room.
Heero took a deep breath as he grabbed his car keys and started out of the room himself. He just hoped meeting up with Duo would be the right thing to do.
~*~
Heero looked around the nicely lit club and spotted Duo at the stage yelling at some guys dressed in torn T-shirt and jeans. They looked a little clueless and Duo looked absolutely at the end of his rope. The American was gesturing wildly and yelling something about the sound. Not really caring if Duo was busy or not, Heero started towards the man.
He was a few feet away when Duo suddenly threw up his arms and whirled around. He came short when he saw Heero and blinked. But then he regained his composure and nodded at him.
"Hello, Yuy," he said.
"Where can we sit and talk?" Heero asked, getting right down to business.
"Over there," Duo said, gesturing to an empty table in the corner of the club. Heero nodded and followed Duo over to the table. As they sat down a couple of drinks were brought by a smiling waitress. Duo nodded his thanks and Heero merely took the glass and drained half of it.
"Aren't you driving?" Duo asked, raisng an eyebrow.
"My alcohol tolerance is good enough," Heero said.
Duo shrugged. "All right, so what do you want to talk about?"
"He still loves you, you know. You just really hurted him," Heero said quietly.
"He loves me?" Duo said softly in amazement. He had thought Wufei hated him with all his heart and entertained thoughts of his death. He didn't even consider the fact Wufei actually still loved him despite everything.
"Of course you idiot. Why do you think he slept with you in the first place?" Heero demanded, getting pissed off. He didn't want to be here but for the sake of Wufei's happiness he would go through this.
Duo looked a bit at loss but he said nothing about it. "So do you have this plan of getting Wufei to listen to me?"
"First off, I want to know everything," Heero said, sitting back in his seat. "I want to know how this bet came about and I want to know what changed."
Duo looked at Heero for a long time before he nodded. "All right. Fair enough."
"So, the bet."
"It was around January 31st. You guys came to this club on a pretty boring night. Quatre and Trowa were there as well. Quatre recognized Wufei and told me that he was the most difficult person to get my hands on. I was bored so we made a bet. I would get Wufei in my bed by Valentine's Day or I pay up $500. If I do, Quatre pays up," Duo explained.
Heero nodded stiffly. "Okay. What changed."
"I fell in love. At first it was fun. Wufei was...absolutely beautiful and he was really sweet. I liked him. It wasn't until later on I found that I was falling in love with him."
"And when you had sex..."
"Made love," Duo corrected, looking a bit wistful. "When that happened, the bet didn't matter anymore. All that mattered was that I was with Wufei. I love him, Heero. At the beginning, it was just winning the bet. Now...Now I wish I never made that bet."
Heero stared at Duo for a moment before he nodded. He knew Duo was sincere from the way he looked and the sound of his voice. " All right. There's only one way you can get Wufei to listen to you."
Duo looked at Heero. "You're going to help me?"
"Of course. I know Wufei still loves you and I hate seeing him so upset because he thinks you don't love him," Heero said, sighing softly. "But you do so I'm going to help you get him to listen to you. What you say is up to you."
Duo smiled and nodded. "And here I thought you wanted my head."
"I still do but for Wufei's sake, you're gonna live and make him happy."

Wufei looked through files without really looking at them. He knew he should concentrate and get some work done but in the end he just gave them over to Lily who then distributed the work. He was paying these people to work so they might as well do something. He leaned back in his leather chair and stared at his desk. He blinked when he saw the teddy bear sitting on the corner of the desk, grinning with a note tied around its neck. That had been a present from the first few days Duo tried to seduce him.
Reaching over Wufei thought about throwing the bear away, but when he touched the soft artificial fur he couldn't help but bring it close and holding it close to his chest. He breathed deeply and closed his eyes. <I can't believe I'm still in love with him after...after what he did. What's wrong with me?> He sighed softly and opened his eyes, smoothing his hand over the fur. Then he growled in frustration and threw the teddy bear into the trash.
He didn't need Duo Maxwell.
But as much as he tried to convince himself that was true, his heart still ached and the tears still came.
Closing his eyes he took deep, shaky breaths and began to pack up his things. Why did he even think about working today? He wasn't up to it. It was time to go home, grab some ice cream--no matter how cold it was--and watch some movies. A typical way to deal with rejection and pain. You eat and drown yourself in your favorite movies.
When he was in his car, he sat there for a moment with his hands gripped on the steering wheel. It took a while but he finally stuck the key into the ignition and drove out of the parking lot and back home.
Heero was already home, playing that damn solitaire game of his on the computer. Wufei gave his friend a quickly hello before he went to the kitchen and found a gallon of his favorite ice cream. He grabbed a sturdy spoon and walked to the den where he popped in his favorite video before making himself comfortable on the worn couch and eating his ice cream.
After a few minutes Heero appeared with a spoon as well and they spent the rest of the night together eating ice cream and watching the movie until Wufei fell asleep and Heero had to carry him upstairs.
~*~
Later that night...
When Heero was sure Wufei was fast asleep without any intent on waking up, he snuck silently into his best friend's room. He walked over to Wufei, who was sleeping fitfully on his bed, and pulled out a damp cloth. He bent over Wufei and stared at his friend's tight expression before he pressed the cloth to Wufei's nose and mouth.
Wufei shot awake and tried to fight back but the sickeningly sweet fumes were breathed in during his struggle and he soon went limp and fell back asleep. His head lolled to one side and his black hair spread out on the white pillow.
Removing the cloth, Heero made sure his friend was fast asleep before he wrapped Wufei up in blankets and carrying him out of the room. It was a bit difficult with his bum ankle but he managed it. He carried Wufei out of the mansion and to the waiting car outside. Duo as standing there, jumping from one foot to another until he saw Heero. He immeidately rushed forward and gathered Wufei gently into his arms and cradled his love in his arms.
"Take care of him. And good luck," Heero whispered as he affectionately brushed some strands of hair out of Wufei's sleeping face before raising his head and meeting Duo's eyes.
"I promise," Duo whispered sincerely. "I swear I'll take care of him."
"Good." Heero nodded sharply before he turned and walked back into the house.
Duo smiled as he looked down at his precious love. He bent down and pressed a deep kiss to Wufei's forehead before he turned around and slid Wufei easily into the passenger seat. He pulled the seat belt over and made sure it was secure before closing the door and walking over to the driver's seat. He started the engine and drove off towards the beach. He was absolutely determined to use all the time he had with Wufei to convince the beautiful Asian man that he loved him and that they were perfect for each other.
