Valentine Seduction

February 11
Heero winced as he bumped his foot against the leg of his desk and cursed softly underneath his breath. He pushed back his chair and slowly got up from it, still favoring his foot as he limped his way over to the bookcase and grabbed some books he needed for the research he was doing. Since he had gotten hurt he had been doing everything from his computer at home. It was a good thing since he didn't like going out and working in an office to begin with. <I wish someone would tell me why I took this job again,> he thought sourly as he sat back down and pulled himself back towards his desk.
Flipping through the book Heero found the page needed and started scanning it, picking out all the parts he needed. He looked back up at his computer screen and started typing again. He was half way through it when he heard the front door open and shut.
"Heero? I'm home!" Wufei shouted.
"Joy!" Heero said dryly as he rolled his eyes and continued to work.
"What was that?" Wufei asked as he neared the office.
"Nothing, Wufei," Heero replied.
"Sure," Wufei drawled as he appeared at the doorway, almost hanging off it. His hair was down he was grinning from ear to ear.
Heero took a moment to stare at his friend. Then he snorted. "You had sex."
Wufei laughed and blushed. "Oh, you're so subtle."
"Thank you," Heero said, smiling.
Wufei walked into the room and looked over Heero's shoulder. "What are you doing?"
"Work."
"It's a Sunday," Wufei pointed out.
"And it's due tomorrow. What are you doing back so soon? I thought you and Duo were going to get it on until tonight," Heero remarked.
Wufei made a face. "Haha, you're just a riot, Heero."
"People tend to tell me that."
"Oh, shut up."
"So, why are you back so soon?"
"Were you really that anxious to get rid of me?" Wufei asked, resting his chin of Heero's shoulder and grinning at his friend.
"Wufei..."
"Duo got a call from the club. They had some small fire or something like that. He had to go. We're gonna meet up later today though," Wufei said, smiling. "I really like him, Heero."
"I bet. If you didn't, you wouldn't have slept with him," Heero said, nodding.
"Ah, well..." Wufei smiled and straightened up. "How does your ankle feel?"
"Better. I just banged it though so it's giving me hell."
"Didn't I tell you to be careful?" Wufei asked as he tried not to laugh out loud. "Every single time I tell you something you just turn around and do the exact opposite."
"Like that was my fault," Heero shot back.
"Hmph." Wufei shrugged and rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Look, I'm going upstairs to change and then I'm going to go and meet up with Duo down at the club."
"What are you guys going to do?" Heero asked.
"I don't know. Anything, I guess. We really didn't decide on what to do," Wufei said, shrugging one shoulder before he turned and left the room.
Heero turned around and stared at the screen before he went back to work.

Wufei rubbed his hands together and tried to get some friction between them. He was freezing cold even though he was wearing a thick leather jacket. <I should have brought my gloves,> he thought to himself as he got out of the car and closed the door. He locked the car and started for the door. It was the late afternoon and there was only a handful of people around. The club would probably start moving come nightfall.
He continued to rub his hands together as he walked through the door and looked around the place for any sign of Duo. He finally spotted his lover talking to a petite looking blond dressed in obviously expensive clothing. He smiled slightly when he recognized the blonde as Quatre Raberba Winner. <So, they are friends.>
Both men had their backs turned to him and it looked like they were talking about something pretty funny from their body language. Wufei walked towards them and stopped a couple of feet when he caught wind of their conversation.
~*~
"It looks like you actually did it," Quatre was saying as he grinned at Duo and shook his head in amazement. "And here I thought you were actually going to lose. I swore he was going to turn you down no matter what you did."
"Ah, you don't believe in me, Quatre. I told you I could get him and I did," Duo said, grinning. "Now, where's my money?"
"Hmph. I didn't bring it because I didn't believe you'd actually win. I'll pay you tomorrow," Quatre sniffed.
"Now, that's just rude," Duo said, laughing.
"Whatever. So, how was it?" Quatre asked, smirking.
"What do you mean by that?" Duo asked, pretending not to understand.
"You know perfectly well what I'm asking. Is he good?"
Duo snorted. "Like I'm going to tell you."
"Come on, Duo! Don't be like that," Quatre pouted.
Duo shook his head, a slight smile playing along his lips. "Nope. I don't kiss and tell."
"Mean," Quatre accused.
"I don't ask you how it is with Trowa," Duo pointed out.
"But I'd be more than willing to tell."
"No way, Quatre."
Quatre sulked for a moment.
"Hey, Quatre," Duo suddenly said as he remembered what he had to ask his friend. "I know I've already asked, but you swear you won't tell another living soul about this bet, right?"
Quatre nodded. "Of course I won't tell. I know you're afraid if that bodyguard of his is going to come after you. Don't worry; me and Trowa's lips are sealed, we won't tell a soul."
"Thanks," Duo said, smiling.

Wufei took a deep breath and let it out slowly before he turned around and quickly left the club without anyone noticing him. He ran to his car and unlocked it. He quickly got in and sat behind the driver's seat for a moment. Closing his eyes, he fought back the wave of pain and betrayal before he stuck his key into the keyhole and turned his car on.
<Nothing good ever happens to me,> he thought bitterly as he pulled out of the parking spot and drove away from the club. The whole way back home all he could think about was the fact that Duo had been playing with him. It was all a bet, just a stupid bet. Duo had lied to him, plain and simple. <And I let him. I let him tell me that he was actually going to stick around. I guess Heero was right after all, Duo didn't change. He just lied.>
Wiping away tears that had fallen, Wufei told himself that he was never, ever going to speak to Duo Maxwell ever again. <He just used me for a goddamn, stupid bet. Gods, why didn't I just listen to Heero? And here I tell Heero that he never listens to me. I've been such a fucking idiot.>
Finally, when the tears had blurred his vision too much, he pulled over to the side of the street and turned off the engine. Folding his arms on the wheel, Wufei buried his face in his arms and cried.

Duo looked up at the clock hanging on the wall of the club and then back down at his watch. Wufei was late. He wondered what was keeping his lover.
Sitting down at the bar, he poured himself a soda and drank it while he continued to wait for his lover to appear. Quatre had been such a pain trying to get information from him about the night he had spent with Wufei. Of course he wasn't going to say a word. Ordinarily he would have but Wufei was different. Wufei wasn't just another conquest, he was someone so much more than that and Duo wasn't going to degrade him by giving Quatre every single detail of their night together--even if he really wanted to.
"Where is he?" Duo wondered out loud. He thought Wufei was the most punctual person alive, so where was he?

The sudden banging of the front door and the soft sounds of sobbing coming from the foyer startled Heero. He stood up quickly and made his way over to the front of the house as fast as possible. He was half way there when he bumped into Wufei who was crying.
"Wufei!" he exclaimed as he grabbed his friend by the shoulder and looked at him in shock. "What happened?"
Wufei swallowed hard and scrubbed his face violently before sniffing loudly. "Nothing."
"You don't cry, Wufei. What's wrong?" Heero asked slowly.
"I just felt like crying, okay?" Wufei shouted as he pushed Heero away and tried to walk past his friend.
"Hey--Wait a minute, Fei," Heero called after his friend as he limped as fast as possible to follow him. He didn't see the chair that was left out in the living room and tripped on it. "OW! For fucking pete's sake!" He cursed loudly as he sat up and glared at his wounded ankle.
"Heero?" Wufei appeared beside his friend, his tear stained face full of worry. "What happened?"
"Tripped," Heero grounded out as he tried to move his ankle only to have a shock of pain go up his leg and attack his senses. "Shit, shit, shit..."
"This is my fault," Wufei sighed as he stood up and headed for the kitchen. "Just stay there and wait while I go get some ice for it. DON'T MOVE." Then he was gone.
Heero followed Wufei's advice for once and didn't move except to scoot closer to the couch and lean against it. He sighed softly and winced as he tried to move his ankle again.
"I told you not to move," Wufei scolded as he walked into the room with a bowl of ice and a towel. "What were you doing tripping, anyway?" He knelt down beside Heero and began to wrap the ice in the towel.
"I was trying to follow you so we could talk about whatever happened. Why were you cry, Wufei?" Heero asked softly as he watched Wufei work.
The Chinese man paused and shrugged before he tied off the towel and gently placed it on Heero's ankle. "There. That should stop whatever's going on in there. Jeez, Heero, how can I leave you home alone without getting hurt?"
"Quit joking. Tell me what happened."
Wufei looked at Heero and sighed before he settled down beside his friend and stared off at nothing for a moment.
"You were right, you know," he finally said after a long silence.
"About what?"
"Duo."
"What was I right about?"
"He played me, Heero. He made a bet with Quatre Raberba Winner and he won. He got me in bed so he won the bet," Wufei explained painfully as he pulled his legs up and wrapped his legs around them. He rested his chin on his knee and sighed softly, his dark eyes full of sadness and hurt. "I really thought he liked me, too, Heero. But I guess...I guess I was wrong, huh?"
"Wufei," Heero whispered as he reached out and pulled his friend into a tight hug. "I'm so sorry. I never wanted to be right."
"I know, Heero," Wufei murmured as he buried himself in Heero's arms. "It just...hurts so much."
"I'm going to kill him," Heero said matter-of-factly.
"I would say yes but then who'd keep me company while you're in jail?" Wufei joked. Then he became serious. "Listen to me, Heero. Don't kill Duo or hurt him in anyway."
"He played you, Wufei. I should have killed Treize as well when he dumped you," Heero growled.
Wufei shook his head and pulled out of Heero's embrace, although the Japanese man still had him in a loose hug. "No. No killing whatsoever. I know...I know you feel really bad for me but I don't want you to kill him or anyone. Treize had a perfectly good reason for breaking it off--he didn't love me."
"And what reason does Duo have?" Heero demanded.
"Please, don't kill him or hurt him or threaten him in anyway. I'm going to...break off whatever we had--if I could call it that--and everything will be okay again."
"No, it won't. Wufei, you gave yourself over to him and he played you. Do you expect me to just sit around and do nothing about it?"
Wufei bit his lip and sighed. "I'm going to take care of this but I can't have you running around trying to kill everyone who hurts me."
"Wufei--"
"I'm not a child, Heero. I can do this myself," Wufei said firmly.
Heero looked like he was going to protest but he just closed his mouth and said nothing.
"So, you won't kill him or hurt him or even threaten him?" Wufei asked, trying to get a promise from Heero.
"I won't kill or hurt him. But I'm not going to promise not to threaten him," Heero said after a moment.
Wufei sighed. "I guess that's the best I can get from you right now. All right, let's get you upstairs and into bed. No more moving around for you."
"I hate it when you mother me," Heero muttered as he allowed his friend to help him to his feet and support most of his weight as they made their way to the stairs.
"Oh, shut up," Wufei sighed.

Duo quickly dialed Wufei's phone number and waited as the it rang over and over. He had waited for hours and still Wufei hadn't showed up. He wondered what had happened. He just hoped Wufei didn't get hurt or something and was only caught in an impromptu meeting.
After a few rings he was about to hang up when the phone was picked up.
"Hello?" came a deep, husky voice.
"Wufei?"
"Who is this?" the voice demanded.
"This is Duo--"
"You," the voice growled with sudden hostility and hate.
"Who is this?" Duo demanded, put off that such a person was suddenly directing this kind of attitude towards him.
"Heero Yuy, Wufei's bodyguard," the voice said.
Duo swallowed hard. "Is Wufei there?"
"Wufei doesn't feel like talk to you right now, you ass hole," Heero said tightly. "Just go away and leave him alone."
"What? Put Wufei on the line," Duo demanded angrily.
"No. I told you he didn't feel like talking to you, you stupid player," Heero said angrily before the phone was slammed down sharply.
Duo pulled the cell phone away from his ear and snapped it shut. He sat there for what seemed like hours but was only for a few moments. Then he realized what had happened.
<He knows.>
