BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Go away!" Wufei groaned as he turned around in his bed and faced the other side of the room. He didn't feel like waking up just yet. He was tired and wanted to get some sleep. He was a grown man for pete's sakes. What was Heero doing waking him up at this time of the morning??
"I want to talk, Wufei!" Heero shouted through the door.
"About what?"
"Duo!"
"Go away," Wufei exclaimed again. "I don't feel like talking!" He buried his head under his pillow and started drifting off again.
BOOM! CRASH!
<Oh gods, not the door. That's the second time this year!> Wufei thought angrily as he listened to Heero's heavy footsteps as the Japanese man walked over to him.
"Wufei, I have something to tell you about Duo. And I'm not trying to ruin anything for you--" Heero began.
"There isn't anything going on, Heero. Duo's nice but..."
"You keep saying that but you keeping doing the opposite of what you're saying," Heero sighed. He sat down beside Wufei and shook his friend. "Look, you know I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't think something was wrong."
Wufei pulled his head out of the pillows and looked up at Heero. "What are you talking about?"
"What I've been trying to say for the last few days is that Duo's a player, Wufei," Heero told him, happy and relieved that he finally was able to tell Wufei who Duo was. He didn't want his friend to be hurt in anyway and the best way to prevent that was to tell Wufei the truth.
"Oh, come on, Heero. Duo's a nice guy. He can't possibly be a player," Wufei said, shaking his head. He dropped his head down on his pillow and continued to stare up at Heero. "What's wrong?"
"What do you mean what's wrong? I just told you Duo was a player and you don't believe me!" Heero exclaimed, exasperated at his friend's naiveness and sudden denial.
Wufei bit his lower lip. "All right. I'll believe you. Maybe it'll even make it easier..."
"Easier for what?"
"When I tell him I'm not interested." Wufei frowned. "I feel bad, Heero. I mean...He took me on a fabulous date and the next day or so I tell him I'm not interested again. I feel like I was just using him to see Madame Butterfly..."
Heero reached out and pushed Wufei's hair back from his eyes. "Seriously, Wufei, he might be using you at the moment."
"But how can I be sure?"
"You're not. That's why you gotta break this off right now. I'm telling you, Wufei, he's a player and players never change. They're always playing the field one way or another. If you get into a relationship with him, no matter how sincere he seems, he'll hurt you."
Wufei closed his eyes and nodded. He opened them and smiled. "You're right, you know."
"Get out of bed. You have to eat breakfast and get ready for bed," Heero said as he stood up.
"Yes, Mother," Wufei teased as he flipped on to his back and kicked off his covers. Then he got out of bed and followed Heero downstairs.

Duo looked up from his clipboard as someone walked through the front doors of his club and he smiled when he saw it was Wufei. The Chinese man was all dressed up in a sharp suit, his hair tied back neatly. He looked a little uncomfortable though.
"Wufei," Duo called out, smiling warmly at the Chinese man.
"Duo," Wufei said, nodding as he walked over to the American and smiled slightly at him as well.
"What are you doing here? Not that I'd mind but...It's a very nice surprise," Duo said, grinning as he placed his clipboard down and led Wufei over to a table.
"It's my lunch break and I decided to come down here to talk to you about something," Wufei said as he sat down and looked across the table at Duo.
<Oh, great,> Duo thought, sighing mentally. <He's gonna tell me that same old line. Jeez, even I can see he's breaking. Damn that body guard of his.>
"Yes? What about?" Duo asked, not giving a single hint of what he knew and was thinking. He had to let Wufei think that he had won. But that was far from the truth. Oh no, Wufei was steadily losing whether or not he knew it.
Wufei was almost going to bite his lower lip but he quickly told himself not to. He wasn't going to do such a stupid and childish thing in front of Duo. No, he had to be serious about this. Completely and utterly serious. He had to make sure Duo backed off once and for all. Although, the simple idea of that was a bit heart aching. Duo was so nice and Wufei did like him a bit. <Ah, remember what Heero said. Stop thinking, Wufei. If you keep thinking you'll chicken out.>
"I...Duo, I loved last night--"
"I'm glad you did. I did as well. I hope we can have another night just like it."
Wufei opened his mouth only to abrupt close it. "Yes...Of course. Ah, well, I just wanted to tell you that as fun as last night was I can't go out on any more dates with you." <There, I said it. Whew. I just hope he takes it well.>
"Why not?" Duo asked, frowning a bit. "I thought you had fun."
"It's not you...It's...It's just that, well, I've already told you I wasn't interested but you still pushed it. It was fun and I loved it but I still don't want any sort of relationship right now. Things are a bit confusing and difficult for me lately and I want to have some time to sort it all out," Wufei explained as simply as he could.
"Oh, so it's the old 'Its not you, it's me' line?" Duo asked a bit angrily.
"No! Of course not," Wufei said with an adamant shake of his head. "Never. It's just...Please, understand my decision."
Duo sighed and nodded. "I guess you're right. I did push you. I'm sorry, Wufei."
"I'm sorry too. I'm just glad you understand," Wufei said, nodding in relief as he stood up. "Good bye, Duo. Maybe another time?"
"Yeah, another time would be good," Duo agreed, nodding.
Wufei smiled warmly before he turned and left.
Duo stood up and watched as Wufei left his club. Then he smiled slightly as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small invitation that Quatre had sent to him. It was Quatre's birthday and both of them had decided to give a big party for it. He also knew that everyone that was anyone was invited.
<Well, I guess I'll just see you at the party, Wufei. You'll give in sooner or later. Body gurad or no body guard.>

"Do I have any mail?" Wufei asked as he walked into his office and sat down. He only had a little bit of work left before he went home.
"Oh, just an invitation," Lily said as she placed a white envelope with gold print down on Wufei's desk. "It's from Mr. Winner."
"Really?" Wufei quickly opened the invitation and read it. "Hmm...It looks like Quatre's going to have a birthday party."
"That's wonderful. Well, I hope you have fun, Mr. Chang," Lily said before she turned and left the office.
Wufei read the invitation over again and smiled when it said he could bring a guest. He could bring Heero along and they'd have a blast. Of course, they were going stag but that was okay. They could pretend they were each other's dates!
Almost laughing at the silly idea, Wufei placed the invitation back down and turned to finish up his work for the day. He wanted to get home as soon as possible and tell Heero about the party. He knew Heero would put up a fight but the Japanese man was going to give in whether or not he wanted to. Wufei knew he could be a very persuasive person when he wanted to be.
He had received many phone calls while he tried to finish up the work and didn't get done until a bit later than he expected. He quickly packed up and left the building when he was done with all the work and drove home. When he stepped through the threshold of the front door he could hear the clacking of the computer from Heero's rapid fingers. He went to his room and quickly dropped everything off and changed before going into Heero's computer room where the Japanese man did all his work.
"Good evening, Heero," Wufei said cheerfully as he walked over to his friend and dropped the invitatin down on the keyboard to stop Heero's rapid typing. "Got an invite to a birthday party."
Heero stared at the invitation before looking up at Wufei. "So?"
"So, I decided we're going to go," Wufei said, grinning as he sat down on the edge of the table.
"No, we're not. You know I hate going to those things," Heero said as he picked up the invitation and placed it down on the table before turning his attention back to the monitor and allowed his fingers to continue flying across the keyboard with expert ease.
"Oh, come on! It's been a long time since you last went to one of these parties. I think it's time you go again," Wufei said, cocking his head to the side.
"No, we're not."
"Yes, we are."
"Not."
"Are."
"Not."
"Are."
"Not!"
"Are!"
"Not!"
"If you don't go I'll...I'll..."
"What?" Heero asked with a slight smirk.
"I'll...Get drunk!" Wufei threatened.
Heero grimaced slightly at the horrible memories when Wufei got drunk a few times but shrugged. "Go ahead."
Wufei huffed and pouted. "You're no fun, you know."
"I know."
"Please, Heero," Wufei begged as he pulled an adorable, chibi expression. "Pwease! I don't want to go to this alone and I think you'll have fun!"
Heero looked thoughtful for a moment. "Is Duo Maxwell going to be there?"
"I don't know."
"Hn." Heero looked down at the keyboard as he tried to remember something he had read somewhere about Maxwell. Oh yeah, he and Quatre Raberba Winner were friends. "Fine. I'll go."
"Really? Wonderful!" Wufei grinned as he slapped his friend on the back before turning and heading out of the room.
"Where are you going?"
"To get dinner. I'm starving," Wufei said, waving his hand as he left the room.
<Ack, I hate doing this but if Maxwell's going to be there I'm not going to let him try anything with Wufei.>

Later that Night...
"Ouch! What are you trying to do? Kill me?" Heero exclaimed as Wufei slowly wrapped the bandage around his swollen ankle.
"Look, I'm not the one who decided to twist his ankle while coming down the last step of the staircase," Wufei said as he gave the bandages wrapped aorund Heero's ankle a sharp tug, causing the Japanese man to let loose a vicious string of curses in Japanese man. "Stop complaining. At least you didn't break anything."
"I won't be able to go to the party," Heero said through gritted teeth.
"And aren't you a happy little boy, aren't you?" Wufei asked sarcastically as he finished up with Heero's ankle. "Now, just stay off it and let me get some more ice."
<I can't believe I actually did that. Now I won't be able to watch out in case Maxwell is there and tries anything,> Heero thought, just a bit miffed. <But Wufei's gotta be smarter than that. I already told him about Duo and he told me that he had set Duo straight. Of course, that was probably the second or third time he had to do that. Argh, I don't like this. I don't like it at all. But I guess I'm going to have to sit here and take it. I just hope Wufei will be smart enough.>
Wufei came back with the ice and gently placed it on Heero's ankle. "There. That should help slow the swelling. Now, do you want some asprin?"
"Sure," Heero said, nodding.
"All right, open wide," Wufei said as he held out the pills. Heero opened his mouth and Wufei threw the pills into the mouth. Then he gave Heero some water and watched as the man swallowed the pills and finish off the water. "Okay, it's late and tomorrow I've got more work. Good night, Heero." He stood up and smiled at his friend before leaving the room.
"'Night, Wufei," Heero called after his friend as he made himself comfortable in his bed before falling asleep.

Incredibly short because I had no time to work on a decent chapter. I didn't get the computer until late and it was almost my bed time. Gomen for the short chapter, but I'll try my best to write better ones in the future! Comments, onegai!
