Valentine Seduction

Wufei sighed softly as he walked downstairs to the kitchen to have breakfast. As he walked in the delicious smells of food and a large bouquet of roses greeted him.
"Mrs. Nancy, whose are these?" Wufei asked as he sat down at the table and gestured at the roses.
"Actually, Mr. Chang, they're for you," Mrs. Nancy said as she placed breakfast down in front of him. "They came early this morning."
Wufei raised an eyebrow and searched through the roses for some sort of card. He found it nestled between two plump blossoms. He pulled it out and read it:
Dear Wufei,
I noticed you last night at Death's Haven and I was completely taken in by your beauty. I know this might sound strange but I would like to meet you personally.
Sincerely Yours,
Duo Maxwell
A phone number was scribbled at the bottom. Wufei stared at the card and reread it before putting it down and staring at the roses. He smiled slightly as the romantic idea of an admirer made itself known. His heart beated just a little quicker before he shook his head mentally. He couldn't. Not so quick after Treize.
"whose are those?" Heero asked as he appeared in the kitchen with a computer magazine in his hands.
"Mine. Apparently a Duo Maxwell sent them," Wufei said calmly as he looked down at his breakfast and began to eat it.
"Hmmm...Are you going to say thank you?" Heero asked as he sat down across from Wufei.
"I don't know. I don't want to. Not so soon after Treize," Wufei said with a little shrug. "Besides, I don't know Duo Maxwell. I can't just accept a date like that."
"Mmm...True," Heero agreed with a mouthful of food.
Wufei smiled as he looked at the roses again before resuming his eating.

Duo looked down at the inventory he was working on and wondered if Wufei had gotten the roses. Possibly. But the main question was whether or not he will actually call. If Quatre was right there was only a small obstacle of meeting Wufei. After that Duo predicted it would actually be pretty easy. How hard was it to seduce an innocent morsel like Wufei? It was quiet obvious the Chinese man had no a single idea of a relationship between men.
He had logged on to the Net and learned that Wufei had been dating women for the past few years and had only recently begun to date men. His relationship with Treize Khushrenada had been sweet but that was about it.
Yep, a completely innocent to the fleshes of male relationships. How nice for him.
<This $500 is gonna be so easy to win. Plus I'll get to have something to keep me busy till the 14th. I hate being bored.> Duo sighed as he made another calculation on the inventory before his thoughts wandered. He hoped Wufei would respond to his note or he would have to try something more in order to catch the man's attention.
Suddenly, Duo's cell phone went off.
"Hello?"
"Duo Maxwell?" A light tenor asked on the other line.
"Speaking," Duo smiled as he listened to the sweet voice on the other line.
"Oh. Well, I wanted to call and say thank you for the roses--"
"Does that mean you'll take me up on the date?" Duo interrupted.
"I'm sorry but no. I won't be. It's very sweet of you but I'm not looking for a relationship."
"Oh. Well, I'm sorry to hear that," Duo said as convincingly as possible. He was barely sorry. He was actually happy to hear that. It only gave him a little more challenge. "Well, I understand."
"Really? That's wonderful. I'm sorry, Mr. Maxwell."
"It's Duo. And it's perfectly all right, Wufei," Duo said smoothly.
"All right, bye."

Duo snapped his phone shut and sighed heavily while a smile tugged at his lips. Well, it looked like he was going to have to work a little harder.
~*~
Wufei hung up the phone, feeling a little bad about what he had done. But he was convinced it was the right thing to do. He couldn't lead Duo Maxwell on. Especially when he had no real desire to find another boyfriend. Although he had to admit, Duo sounded like a very nice man.
Turning around Wufei spotted the roses on the kitchen table. He bit his lower lip and wondered about what he should do. He searched out a vase and filled it with water. Then he carefully placed the roses into it. It would be a waste to throw the roses away. Besides, those were his favorite flowers anyway.
"You're keeping the roses?" Heero asked as he walked into the kitchen in search of another cup of coffee. He couldn't live without coffee, especially in the morning. He had been busy at the computer learning as much as he could about this Duo Maxwell. Wufei had once been his boss until they became really good friends and Heero found a job with a big computer company. Old habits died hard and he wasn't going to let Wufei get stalked because he wasn't careful.
"Yes," Wufei said, nodding. "Besides, I like roses and it'd be a waste to throw them away."
Heero shrugged and left with his coffee to continue his search. He had found some interesting things about Duo Maxwell but he wasn't going to tell Wufei just yet.
"Don't you have work today, Heero?" Wufei asked as he followed his friend out of the kitchen.
"Yeah. I'll go, don't worry," Heero told his friend.
"You didn't go yesterday; I got a call," Wufei scolded.
"Jeez, I thought I left my mother in Japan, Wufei," Heero teased.
Wufei rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, smart ass."
"Oh, you know I have a nice ass," Heero said cheekily as he disappeared into his computer room.
"Since when did he get a sense of humor," Wufei muttered to himself as he went back upstairs to dress for work. Because he owned everything he didn't have to go to work early but he did have to be there. He would have rather stay home today but he couldn't do that. The business didn't run itself.
As he walked up the steps of the staircase he absently wondered how Duo Maxwell looked like.
~*~
The whole entire day Duo spent it making phone calls to book shows for his club and to order more inventory so nothing ran out. In between that he made some more phone calls to a florist ordering more flowers and candies with a few teddy bears thrown in for good measure. It was fun putting down the orders and he could easily pay for them so there were no worries.
While he busied himself running his club Duo also entertained nice thoughts of what he would do to seduce and win Wufei over. Wasn't there a fair happening down at the beach sometime soon? And there were so many restaurants to go to as well for small dates.
Half way into a particularly nice thought his phone went off.
"Hello?"
"Got him yet?" Quatre asked in amusement.
"It's barely the second day, Quatre. Just hold on to your horses. I'll get him soon enough," Duo said confidently.
"Oh really?"
"Yep. Don't you worry your blond head. I know what I'm doing."
"Well, don't be so sure of yourself. I'll be waiting patiently for that $500."
"Ha!"

Duo shook his head as he closed his cell phone. Did Quatre really think he would lose? He was a master at seduction. He wasn't going to lose, especially at a bet like this. The money was nothing, it was the challenge that he liked.
"Will that be all, Mr. Maxwell?" Dorothy Catalonia asked as she made some marks on her clipboard of papers.
"Yes," Duo said. "Hey, Dorothy."
"Yeah?"
"What do you know about Chang Wufei?"
"He's rich, he's hot and he's gay," Dorothy said, shrugging. "Why do you ask?"
Duo smiled charmingly. "Just wondering."
"All right. Well, I'll see you next week." Dorothy waved good-bye and left.
<Well, that wasn't helpful. I already knew all of those things,> Duo mused as he flipped his phone open again and stared at the keypad. Then he quickly dialed a number.

Riiiing!
Wufei frowned as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone. He pushed the 'Talk' button.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Wufei," a smooth and familiar voice purred from the other line.
"Who is this?" Wufei asked, frowning slightly as he tried to place the voice...
"Duo Maxwell."
Wufei almost laughed. In an amused voice he asked, "Are you stalking me?"
"Hardly, Wufei," came the dry response. "I'm merely calling and dropping you a hi. I have nothing to do at the moment and you were the first person I thought of."
"You're flirting with me," Wufei said, his lips quirking into a smile as he watched the buildings go by in his limo.
"Of course. I do want to get to know you better."
Wufei shook his head and replied, "I don't understand. Did we ever meet before? You couldn't have just spotted me at a club and suddenly think I'm the perfect date for you. What is it that you want?"
"I don't want anything, Wufei. I only want to get to know you. Besides, if you're THE Chang Wufei who wouldn't know you? And, I've got connections," Duo explained simply. "And I do want to get to know you more...You intrigue me."
"That much, huh?" Wufei asked dryly as he leaned back into his seat and smiled. He thought this was pretty amusing and fun but he seriously didn't think Duo was actually serious about this. Who actually did this kind of thing? It was obviously a joke of some kind.
"Oh, you doubt me!"
"I don't even know how you look!"
"That can be solved, you know," Duo purred.
Wufei rolled his eyes and shook his head again. "I don't know...Heero might not like it."
"Heero? Your body guard?"
"Uh-huh."
"Don't tell me your body guard rules your life! You've got to be kidding me. You're the owner of an incredible company, I don't see a guy like you listening to a body guard's words," Duo said in an amused voice.
"He's my friend and I trust him. Besides, what if you ARE a stalker?"
"Then I'd be sending you bloody notes and strange video tapes and threat emails rather than sending you sweet roses, teddy bears and calling you like this."
"How did you get my cell number?" Wufei demanded. <Teddy bears? I haven't gotten any teddy bears...>
"I told you, I have connections," Duo said, laughing.
"And I wish I knew who those connections are! Hmph, I wonder who's giving away my phone number..."
"Don't you worry your beautiful head. He's not going to give it to anyone else. I had to twist a few arms and pull in a few favors before I got this number."
"Isn't that comforting," Wufei sighed, laughing lightly. "Look, I'm almost at my office building."
"Hmm...And a new order just came in. Well, I guess this will end our conversation for today."
"Oh, so you're going to call me again?"
"Of course. I'm determined, you know? I have to get to know you."
"Sure. Bye."
"Bye, beautiful."
Wufei rolled his eyes and snapped his cell closed and slipped it back into his pocket. His limo stopped in front of his building and he got out. He walked through the front doors and to the elevator. He glanced down at his watch while the elevator hummed and continued its trip up to where his office was. The doors slid open and he stepped through. He walked into the large room where everyone was busy at their own thing and he walked over to his office.
"Mr. Chang!" Lily Zhang exclaimed happily as she walked up to her boss and shoved a vase of yellow roses and a teddy bear into his arms.
Wufei caught the things and blinked as he looked around to Lily's beaming face. "Thank you for the roses, Lily. But...What's the occasion?"
Lily laughed and shook her head. "They're not from me. They're for you! They came from Duo Maxwell!"
Wufei raised an eyebrow and nodded at Lily. "Thank you." He moved past her and into his office. He closed the door behind him and walked over to his desk where he deposited the vase and bear carefully. He searched through the roses and found no note. But when he picked up the teddy bear there was a note tied around its neck.
"He is determined," the Chinese man murmured to himself as he flipped the note open and read it.
Dear Wufei,
I hope you like the roses and the teddy bear! I told you I got you a teddy bear! Now, don't think I'll be deterred my from goal, I will meet you again and we will have a date. Be sure of it!
Always Yours,
Duo
Wufei rolled his eyes and placed the teddy bear back down on the table. <Lord, what am I going to do with him? He's too adorable to put a restraining order on. I guess I'll just have to deal with this until he realizes I don't want to date.> He walked around his desk, sat down and went to work. He completely forgot about the roses and the teddy bear until he accidentally bumped into it when he was moving some things around his desk.
Later that day he gave the roses to Lily who swooned over them and the teddy bear to Henry Keller whom he knew had a daughter who collected teddy bears.

Okay...I think this was a bit short. But hey, that's all right! I mean...Yeah! I typed all of this in one day!
