Chapter 6

"How did you find me?" Duo asked hoarsely. They were in a house that was safe and away from the assassins or anyone who wanted to find them in England. It had been a long trip and half the time Duo was unconcious. They had done more to him than drug him with a tranquilizer and Wufei had been worried. But then all the symptons faded and Duo was fine again even though he was always tired.

"Hilde found you," Wufei said, smiling slightly. The assassin had left the minute he and Duo were fine. He had no idea where she was now but he was grateful to her. After Duo fully recovers Wufei was going to take him back to China and make sure he never left him.

"She's a smart girl," Duo said, smiling.

Wufei nodded and helped Duo drink some more water. It was best that they washed everything out of Duo's system.

They were silent for a moment, staring at each other.

"Wufei," Duo finally said. "You know everything now, don't you?"

Wufei nodded silently.

Duo sighed. "Do you hate me?"

"No. I don't." Wufei reached out and stroked Duo's soft cheek. "I love you, Duo. Very much. I could never hate you."

"But I tried to kill you!"

"But that was before we fell in love, huh?"

"Who said I was in love with you?"

"The night you made love to me said everything," Wufei said seriously as he moved closer to Duo on the bed.

Duo smiled and pulled Wufei into his arms. "I do love you, Chang Wufei. More than anything in the world."

"I found your dagger," Wufei said as he pulled slightly away from Duo and revealed the dagger.

"I kicked it underneath the bed when you woke up," Duo said, nodding as he took the dagger back. "Thanks."

"It belongs to you."

"I was gonna kill you with it."

Wufei shook his head and pressed his forehead agianst Duo's. "But you didn't and that's all that counts. We're gonna go back to China and leave all this madness behind."

"It'll never go away, Wufei. The assassins won't let me go that easily," Duo said, shaking his head against Wufei's.

"Until then, I guess we're just gonna have to make the best of it, huh?" Wufei asked softly as he moved in and kissed Duo gently on the lips. "I'm not afraid, Duo. I'm the leader of the Dragon Clan now. No one can hurt you or me."

"Yes, they can," Duo hissed. "You don't understand!"

"Maybe. But what I do understand is that I'm never gonna let you go," Wufei said with determination. "Never."

Duo sighed and smiled slightly. "You're crazy."

"Yeah, what are you going to do about it?" Wufei challenged.

"This," Duo whispered as he brought Wufei closer and kissed him deeply. He pulled Wufei over until the boy was lying beneath him, not once did their lips part. Still, Wufei had that sweet innocent kiss and willingness. Duo smiled as he kissed the boy even harder before pulling away and kissing his jaw line, making his way down to the Chinese boy's neck where he bit him only enough to mark his skin but not break it. "Mine," he growled against the boy's neck as he continued kiss him passionately.

Wufei was trembling with desire beneath him as he wrapped his arms and legs around Duo. "Always."

Duo smiled and kissed Wufei on the lips before he began to undress him.

For about two weeks both boys lived in peace and relaxation by spending time with each other in the day reading or watching TV or just holding each other while by night they gave into their desires and made love until both could only lay there and revel in the afterglow of their love.

It was simple and pleasureable time while Duo regained his strength and Wufei gained more skill in bed. Both of them were happy...It was just so sad none of it could last...

A knock on the door brought Wufei out of the current play he was reading, Romeo and Juliet/West Side Story, as he looked up and took off his glasses. He smiled as he realized that Duo was back from buying groceries at the local market. He placed his book on the table and got up, stretched and walked over to the door. He pulled it open with a big smile but it faded when he saw that it wasn't Duo who had rung the door bell. He gave a cry of shock and tried to close the door but the big man just shoved it back open, throwing Wufei off and on to the floor.

"Wufei!"

Wufei looked up to see his beloved get punched in the stomach for crying out.

The same man grabbed Wufei by the shirt and brought him up to his feet.

"Did you really think you could escape from us?" He growled before punching the boy. Wufei's head snapped back painfully and all he saw was white before his vision cleared. He could feel a bruise develop on his numbed face.

"Tie 'em up!"

Wufei was dragged ruthlessly over to another who tied him up and threw him down on the couch. He winced painfully at the binds. He quickly looked over to Duo who was being held by the arms by a strong man. His love was cursing the tall man who had been at the door and doing a pretty good job at it. Wufei had never heard such vulgar profanity before. But he pushed that all out of his mind as he feared for his love's life. His assassination organization had found them and now they were going to die.

"Duo, isn't this the boy you were ordered to kill?" The tall man asked pleasantly.

"Go to hell, Valerio!" Duo spat.

Valerio merely shrugged. "Sorry, but that's where you're going. You went against the organization so now you must die."

"Isn't that what you said the first time?" Duo demanded mockingly.

"Yes, well, this time you're going to say your gay boyfriend die first," Valerio said, looking for all the world like the bastard he was.

"No! You won't touch, Wufei!" Duo shouted. "I'll kill you if you do! You sonofabitch, you stay away from him! Do you hear me, you ass hole?!"

Wufei thought as the fear grew. All he could think about was Duo. Screw his life, he was more worried about Duo.

"You're in no position to make threats," Valerio said darkly as another man punched Duo in the stomach. The braided boy didn't even flinch but his breathing had gotten harder.

"Kill him," Valerio ordered, gesturing to Wufei.

Wufei gasped as a man brought out a gun and aimed it at him. He closed his eyes as he felt the gun go off and Duo's screams. He slammed back against the couch as the bullet ripped through him and lodge in a vital organ. His body screamed with pain and then numbed away. He couldn't feel anything, the pain was so great he couldn't feel anything.

"NO!" Duo screamed in horror as he kicked away from his capture and ran over to Wufei. He pulled the boy into his arms and held him tightly. "NO! NO! You sonofabitch!" Duo felt his heart being ripped into two as he held his dying lover. Duo felt tears stream down his face as he held Wufei tighlty, his lover's blood smearing against his clothing and bare skin.

Wufei leaned weakly against Duo, he felt blood seep through his lips as he tried to breathe through the pain and haze. "Duo."

"Wufei, shit, Wufei I didn't want this to happen to you," Duo whispered through his tears. "I'm so sorry."

"What's to be sorry about?" Wufei asked softly. He smiled up at Duo. "You have given me the best last weeks of my life. I've never been loved like that before. There's nothing to be sorry about. I'm okay, Duo." He took a deep breath and kissed Duo, his blood smearing over Duo's soft lips. "I love you. Wo ai ni, my life. I'll see you in the next life." Then Wufei sighed and went still in Duo's arms. His pale skin was smeared with his own blood. Duo reached out and wiped the blood away. He didn't like seeing that color on his love.

"Wufei! Don't leave me! Please, don't leave me."

Duo shook his head painfully, held his love tightly and kissed his cooling lips, tasting the iron taste of Wufei's blood. He didn't care when he heard the gun being cocked, he didn't care when he heard the gun shot. He cared even less when the bullet tore through his body and killed him. All he could think about was seeing Wufei in the next life...
