Ash Ketchum Ash is the main character in both the cartoon, and Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. His favorite pokemon, and best friend is Pikachu. Ash and Pikachu have a sort of understanding that most trainers and their pokemon do not. Ash travels around with his other best friends, Misty and Brock. They're both pokemon gym leaders, and they're both wiser than him. Ash's relationship with Misty has always seemed rocky from the start; however, there are those moments when their friendship seems like it's a little more than friendship. Ash's thoughts on people who comment about liking Misty are always that it's not true, and that he'd never like her, but who knows how he really feels... Ash and Brock are good friends and can talk more about the knid of things that neither pokemon or girls can understand. All of the time that Brock was gone, and Tracey was with Ash and Misty, Ash would make sure that he did not forget his old friend, and would often say things like, "Wait 'till Brock hears about this!" Also, Brock has the amazing ability to be able to sort of calm down Ash when he's angry (which, as Misty could probably tell you, is not an easy thing). Ash's philosophy on pokemon training is to trust your guts. Ash wins some of his battles with skill, but most of his battles with instict, or as some would call it, luck. Ash isn't the brightest of trainers though, and often finds himself being given advice by Misty when he doesn't want it. His biggest goal is to become a Pokemon Master, and with Ash's determination, he just might become one!
