This is my 2001 Mazda Protege. I was originally looking for an Escort and I even considered a Nissan Sentra. Findng a good Escort at a decent price was an adventure in and of itself. The Sentras were a bit too pricey. I had always liked the Protege 5 but I found out that they were beyond my budget. I ran across this sedan on
Auto Trader and started looking into the Proteges. The more I read the more I liked. I talked with the owner, looked the car over, talked about the price for a bit, brought him down to $4,300 and a deal was made.
I feel that I really got the better end of the deal. This car has power windows, power locks, and power mirrors. A bit roomier than my Escort and I liked the styling. Of course it doesn't have the 'feel' of my Escort but that will come in due time with modifications.
My plans for this year are to install a SS clutch line
and SS brake lines from Corksport. I'd also like to buy a head unit since my Kenwood just gave out on me. I've never been too keen on Kenwoods especially since this one only lasted me 2 years and the Clarion it replaced lasted me a little over 4 years. I'm looking at getting another Clarion probably something a basic for now just so I have some tunes in my car. I'll probably also install some LEDS in my car from
Oznium. They've got some cool stuff there if you're into lights, strobes and such. If I manage so save, borrow or steal some money, I'd like to install a
Corksport strutbar and a B&M short shifter.
