The Skies
THE SQUIRRELLOW'S ROOST
In a large crack in the side of the mountain bowl, you find a little bush growing. Its sparse branches, struggling in the shade, but still strong and holding on, seem to be the home to a twisted nest of twigs, feathers, and scraps of paper. Within the mesh seems to be a smallish egg, glossy mottled colors of pink and blue with a sheen to it that puts a glare in your eye. As you move a bit closer, you see through the vague mottled hues that you can see right through the egg and watch the tiny embryo inside, jittering slightly as it move a bit within its translucent shell.....

You move in to take a better look and see a small piece of paper wrapped around one of the branches with a brown rubber band. You pull it off and unfold it carefully as you observe the slightly shivering egg and the tiny life within...
| Welcome! This little egg has recently arrived from: The Tir'Na'Bainne'Gile'Lair The young one that will soon hatch is a Squirrellow. You can see the little one growing if you look closely through the egg's shell. What is a Squirrellow, you ask? For the longest time, not even we knew that much! But information on the species has recently arrived from the Tir. Squirrellow were original a scientific creation of scientists within the lands that would be Tir. Their genetics were coded that the eggs would become transparent as they matured so that the subjects could be physically observed. They are born fully mature and so for the logest time nothing was known of their growth or youth, until the transparenting codes were entered into the process. The Squirrellow species was later abandoned to it's own devices as the Elders moved on to more complex creations. With the fall of the Elders' civilisation, Squirrellows were hunted for their extremely durable feathers and soft fur. Originally being an extremely trusting race, most of them were wiped out within a few moons, however before then a few kkttekki, or adults, managed to make their way to the sanctuary that later became the Tir. It is uncertain as to the gender of this little one, so the Lady Azrielen has named it a neutral name in the original tongue of the Squirrellow. The little one shall be known as Iiktirekiici be it a male or a female! Squirrellow speak in an extremely stattacco language and human tongues are all but impossible for them to speak, thus the names tend to be rather hard to vocalise by anyone outside their species unless practiced. The Lady Az has not nearly mastered the throart-twisting shrills of the language, but she felt that the little one should retain its species' dignigifed naming. The egg has very recently acheived translucency and we have no idea on a hatching time. Azrielen won this little one in a contest a while ago and, knowing little to nothing of advanced knowledge of the species, it has been a guessing game ever since! Wish the Lady Azrielen and this little one luck in their life and future together! |
You take a last look at the lovely little egg and its tiny occupant, laying your fingers on the vines that encase it, silently wishing it a wondrous and long life, before moving on to explore other realms of the Hold.....
Off to your left, along the wall, bright light reflects off of open ground in another section of the bowl. Go on and explore the open air a bit more, or move back toward the entrance and another murky-dark crevise in the wall of the great bowl.....
