The game of Alice

A game where one must put their life on the line at all costs for a king to be chosen. A century game that keeps repeating itself for the enjoyment of one girl. A game where one loses their dignity and pride to a soul trapped in a marionette. It is the game of Alice.

"SOMEONE HELP ME!" screamed a sixteen-year-old girl as she ran through the darkness of the forest as the full moon shone on her. Little footsteps followed her as she kept on running away.

No one can help you Trinity. There is only you and me.

"NO! stop talking to me. I don't want this anymore. I didn't know you were going to kill them." said Trinity as she collapsed on ground. She held onto her head and rocked herself back and forth hoping it was only a dream.

You can’t run away from me. You are bound to me. You are my slave for eternity.

“I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t know anything about this,” she said as she looked forward to see a small figure in front of her smiling evilly.

You should of listened to me before you swore to me.

It crept toward her as she sat there in fear.

This is the game of Alice and you accepted. If you aren’t willing to give me your power than I have no use of you.

It ran past her as her head fell to the ground spilling blood. It stared at her as her body disappeared into dust.

“HELP ME! HELP ME!” screamed Lyanni as her elder sister Keisha smacked her across the head.

“SHUT UP ALREADY!” she screamed as her younger sister rubbed her eyes and yawned.

“Keisha? why are you in my room?” asked Lyanni confused. She looked at her sister in her plain blue pajamas with her hair all messy. Her sister was a archaeologist who wasn’t at home all the time.

“You were talking in your sleep a little too loud,” she said as she yawned, “It’s midnight and I have work tomorrow.”

“It’s not my fault though,” said Lyanni as she covered her face with the pillow, “I’ve been having bad dreams lately,” she mumbled as her sister took her pillow and looked at her.

“You should lay off the horror movies then Ly. Since you keep waking me up and I can’t stand it,” she said as she walked toward the door and threw the pillow at her sister.

“You would be awake too if you had dreams of cursed dolls,” she said as her elder sister turned around and looked at her.

“What did they look like?” she asked grumpily as Lyanni smiled at her weakly. If there was anything to catch Keisha’s attention was if she had dreams that related to her sister’s research and right now it was about cursed dolls.

“I couldn’t get a clear look but they were playing a game,” she replied as she hugged onto her pillow.

“A game?” asked Keisha as she walked toward the door.

“Don’t you want to know?” asked Lyanni who walked after her sister.

“Ly, I’m tired so tell me about it tomorrow when I’m actually awake.”

“Fine,” said Lyanni was she ran toward her bed and Keisha shut the door.

I don’t really like these dreams Lyanni thought to herself.

" Currently this morning a man found what seems to be a head of a missing girl named Trinity Tran. We have Ryan Yamamoto at the crime scene now."

"Well Tom I'm here at Marionette forest and the police say that the head was the only body part found. It seems that the entire body is missing. Police are now searching for the body and seem to have no luck finding it. The mysterious thing about this is that there are tiny footprints right near the girl's h--

"I was watching that Lyanni," said Keisha as Lyanni stood frozen still holding onto the remote control staring at the blank television set.

"What is the matter with you?"

"My d d dream wa wa was tr true," she said as she collapsed on the floor.

"Get a grip Ly," said Keisha as she placed her sister's head on her lap trying to calm her down. "It's just a serial killer on the loose."

"THE DOLLS ARE AWAKENING TO PLAY THE GAME!" screamed Lyanni as she opened her eyes and jumped up.

"Keisha we must leave now," she said as she went into her room, "We must not stay here or we'll die."

"Lyanni," said her sister calmly as she followed her, "You have just been having bad dreams. This has nothing to do with the incidents that have been occurring."

"Yes they have Keisha and you just don't believe me since you're too busy studying those things that are causing this," said Lyanni as she stared at her sister who just stared back at her.

"Ly I know I have been busy but you don't have to blame it all on the projects that I'm studying,"

"But this time I'm not lying. It is true and --"

"Listen how about you tell me about this at dinner when we go out to eat tonight”

"Promise?" asked a happy Lyanni as her older sister smiled at her.

"Of course," she said as she walked out of Lyanni's room.

"So then I'll see you tonight?" asked Lyanni as she stood in the doorway of her room.

"Yup," said Keisha as she grabbed her keys and purse and headed toward the door of their two story house.

"Well then I'll see you tonight," said Lyanni as she stood behind her sister to close the door.

"Oh Ly," said her sister as Lyanni looked up at her.

"Yes?"

"Can you go up to the attic and find my research papers for me?" asked her sister as she smiled at her.

"B but I hate it up there," Lyanni whined, "the stuff you have up there is frightening."

"Come on please or do you want to eat at home tonight?"

"Fine," agreed a not so happy Lyanni, "but you will owe me for this."

"Thanks," said her sister happily as she went out the door and Lyanni locked it.

What have I gotten myself into? Lyanni asked herself as she watched her sister leave and sighed.

Lyanni stared at the stairs that led to the attic. She held onto her flashlight as she crept up the stairs slowly. She hated the attic as much as children didn't like taking medicine. Her sister kept all her work and studies in the attic, which included mummies, cursed objects, all her artifacts. When she finally reached the door she wouldn't make up her mind if she wanted to go in or not.

Maybe I should just leave she thought to herself as she stared at the doorknob. But if I don't go then I won't be able to go out with my sister and she won't listen to my dreams.

"Be brave Lyanni," she said to herself as she turned the doorknob and opened the door. "Eww," she said as the smell flooded through her nostrils. "It smells like dead waste in here," she said to herself.

She walked around the dim room searching for her sister's papers. "Where could her papers be?" she asked herself as she walked around the room. "There they are," she said as she found them on top of a box.

"Cursed Dolls," she read off the title page as she picked it up. She felt relieved and couldn't wait to leave the room. She walked quickly toward the door and fell.

"Ow," she said as she found a box in front of her. It was a blue velvet box with a border of gold roses around it. Lyanni looked at it in awe wondering why such a beautiful box would be in the attic.

"I wonder what it could be?" Lyanni asked herself as she thought why her sister would put such a pretty thing in the attic. "Maybe she got this for me to make up for the days she missed with me," she said to herself happily as she lifted the lid off to find a male doll with a pony tail nicely tied with a blue ribbon. He wore a blue Sergeant outfit with many badges on his attire. He had black shoes with gold shoelaces. Next to him lay a gold key. Lyanni stared at the key wondering what it was for. She picked up the male doll carefully. She touched his face which seemed unusual since it was really soft. She looked at the doll admiring it's features. The doll was well made and looked almost like a real human. She saw a hole on the back of the doll which seemed to fit the key.

"It couldn't hurt to turn it on and see what it does," she thought as she placed the key into the doll's back and turn it a few times. The doll started to move so she placed it on the ground. It started walking toward the door and turned around and looked at her.

"I am Druex Pierre Fredericks. I am the first doll created by Alice Rozen"

"This is a dream," Lyanni said to herself as the doll supposedly named Druex walked toward her.

"No Miss this is not a dream," he said as he lifted up her chin, "this is real and I must tell you something important before the others show up."

"THERE ARE MORE OF YOU?" screamed Lyanni as she jumped and started freaking out.

"LISTEN HERE," he said as she calmed down and looked at him.

"You opened my box and since you have awakened me, you are now my medium"

"medium?" she asked him as she stared at him and picked him up.

"Yes," he said, "you are my medium to give to me power."

"You don't have power of your own?" she asked him blankly.

"No, you see we get our power from our mediums, since we have no power of our own. We're just plain dolls that have to ability to move around and speak"

"That is how the game works"

"Okay well how do you get it?"

"First uh what is your name young lady?"

"Lyanni"

"Ok well Miss Lyanni first you would have to kiss my ring," he said as he showed her his silver ring with a blue ruby on it on his middle finger.

"This is not some scam?"

"No it is not, this is not a joke. Unless you become my medium I have no power to protect myself nor you from the other dolls and your life will be put in jeopardy"

"When will---

Lyanni was cut off by a knife thrown at her. Druex turned his head and saw a doll with blonde curly hair. She wore a pink dress. White stockings and black shoes. It smiled at them as Lyanni started running.

"LYANNI! LYANNI!" yelled Druex as she held on to him and ran down the stairs out of the attic as the doll laughed its little girl laugh and followed.

"WHAT IS IT?" Lyanni asked him frightened to death as she ran into her room.

"You must kiss my ring or I can't fight her"

"Okay" said Lyanni as she locked the door of her room and she could hear the doll trying to break her door. Lyanni was frightened and had no choice but to kiss Druex's ring so she placed him on her bed and sat on her knees and kissed his ring, suddenly a yellow light glowed and a ring similar to Druex's appeared on her middle finger.

The doll laughed as the door broke down and it came in smiling.

"A welcoming from Souma," she said as she laughed at them.

"SAVE ME ALREADY DRUEX!" screamed Lyanni as the doll came near her.

Druex jumped off the bed and a gun magically appeared in his right hand.

“Tell Souma that we don’t like his welcome gifts,” said Druex as he triggered the gun and blue light came flying out of the gun hitting the doll as it screamed in pain and disappeared into dust leaving a talisman with Japanese characters on it.

"Who's Souma? And what was that all about?" asked Lyanni as she tried to stand up but fell down from shock.

"He's already awakened," said Druex as he stepped on the talisman left behind.
