Alfonso Cuaron's Directing Style

Not many are happy with Alfonso Cuaron's directing on the third movie of Harry Potter. They claim that he's cut off far more then Chris Columbus has done and totally changed the movie. On some points, I agree.

What was lovely about the movie was how he portrayed the wizarding world. I loved the landscape and the shots of the castle are beautiful. This is exactly what I had in mind for Harry Potter. The sets and stuff were perfect.

The storylines that he left out was what I wasn't very happy about. I think he should have put in the fact that Sirius Black was actually sent to jail for the murder of 13 people in the street, so that Sirius would appear more frightening. And Alfonso should have more of Ron and Hermione fighting in it about Crookshanks. Instead, it was just a 2 second snippet of them having a little hiccup. He also made a mistake of not really mentioning Crookshanks' bond with Sirius as well. And the last one was of Harry finding out the Marauder's Map was written by his father and his friends. Even though it's insignificant, I still feel it's important. I mean, the cloak, the photos and the map is all he has of his parents.

In the movie, Alfonso tries to grow the teens up. He has them in Hagrid's class with their shirts untucked and ties loose, supposedly to represent teenage rebellion. He ruined Hermione though. She worries about the state of her hair, something that doesn't happen until the fourth book. And in the whole movie, she hasn't opened at least one book.

In my opinion, the beautiful sights aren't enough to help the movie. I think it failed to show non-Harry Potter fans what the books are truly about. What do you think? Give me a piece of your opinion.
