An old man.

This is the story about a man who lived all alone in his little cottage hidden deep in the forest of Achribah.
Now this man was very wise, that's why all the town folks went to seek his help. So one warm summer day he went for a walk with his loyal dog Butch. The birds were chirping and there was barely a breeze blowing through the green leaves of the forest. Now it came about as the man and his dog were walking that the dog stopped and looked strangely at something off to the side of the road.
"What is it boy?" asked the old man. The dog just stood there. But soon thereafter the dog walked cautiously toward a tree with a little hole in it. The man saw this and looked closer at the same tree. The nearer they came, the louder a little chirping sound became. The man looked inside and found a little bird with part of the shell still on.
The man felt pity for the bird because it appeared there were no adults nearby, nor were they coming. So he held the bird in his hand and gently carried it back to his house.
Back at his house, he wet a towel in warm water and began cleaning up the little beast. The bird shivered at first, but with the warmth of the rag, came the calmness of the bird.
"Great!" the man said, "now we have something for dinner; at least for an appetizer." The dog cocked his head to the side and raised his ears funny in agreement.
