THE LIBRARY OF BABEL

LINKS

What is this Library stuff all about?    What, you think we're gonna attempt an easy answer to that one??  No way, but the cat who set up the Library FAQ will.  We will give you a little ditty about the history of libraries that someone scrawled on the stall in the bathroom at the local 7-11.  All we can say is the it's all about ACCESS and from there, really the best thing to do is point you towards some resources we use:

Ethics

University of Pittsburgh's Information Ethics Website
The Center for Applied Ethics has a good page, though
it mostly focuses on Info-Sci.  Of course, there is
the ALA's Code of Ethics, a much argued about document -
just as the Code of Ethics of Librarians in Israel certainly is.

I ask you, what is a university without a library?  I'll tell you what it is - a giant frat party in a computer lab.

A patron approached the Zen Librarian and asked to reserve the latest Danielle Steele book.  The Zen Librarian offered the patron a bowl filled with sand, and the patron walked away, confused.  "That patron has just taken the first step on a circular path," the Zen Librarian commented.    -from the Laughing Librarian
